The one percent can always work less, make less, and earn that lower rate; what is stopping them?

Bottom 50% pays nothing - yet they aren't "undertaxed" according to the progressives.

EVERYONE should have skin in the game - otherwise, they don't care about spending or waste and have no interest other than their own direct benefits.

You have to work and not live on a government check to be able to have skin in the game.

There is a very small group in this country that "pay nothing"

If you buy gasoline, you pay taxes. If you by any product that is not food, you pay taxes. If you rent an apartment, you pay taxes. If you have a utility bill, you pay taxes. If you have a telephone, you pay taxes.

Sure, but income is not the only mechanism with which we are taxed.

You've got to be trolling with this nonsense. No one is actually this stupid.

Or are you just ignoring that the "income" these people are using to get "taxed" while purchasing these items is given to them?

Do you really believe half the people in America get all of their income from the government for free?

I never said 50% of them do. But please, ignore the substance.

We're not that far from half.

Obamacare has pushed us over the entitlements tipping point. In 2011 some 49.2 percent of U.S. households received benefits from one or more government programs—about 151 million out of an estimated 306.8 million Americans—according to U.S. Census Bureau data released last October.

Currently, around 6 million to 7 million Americans who have signed up for Obamacare are receiving taxpayer-provided subsidies (though the administration’s numbers cannot be trusted, it’s all we have to work with). There are another 3 million who have signed up for Medicaid.

That means some 10 million Americans—or a total of about 161 million—are now getting government subsidies (though the final number might be somewhat lower since some may have been receiving benefits already).
