But people with more education also make more money.
And apparently the Rs are the party of the rich.
Odd, don't you think?

It's a conundrum I have oft considered.

There are a lot of people with two and three degrees who don't make jack shite. There are also a lot of well educated, wealthy people who make so much that they don't give a shite about taxes.

No, not really.
You're supposedly well-educated.

I think the studies that deal with education usually show a relationship with ideology. in other words, more educated people are more liberal--although I think the strength of this relationship is often overstated.
However, i suspect income is a moderator, when it comes political preference. So a well-educated liberal with a high income will probably he more likely to vote for the party that advocates for lower taxes.

Greater education doesn't mean greater intelligence. How many progressives are graduating with art history degrees and preparing for a fulfilling career as a barista?

This isn't always the case. I'd imagine there are a lot more degrees given out in dumbass areas that technically would indicate that a person is "educated." (e.g. women's studies, social workers, etc.). These people are pretty much all liberals and are educated. By no means are these people rich, much less making a lot of money.
Statistically speaking though, the more educated you go up the latter (BS/BA then to Masters, then to PhD, JD, MD) the higher rate of people within those areas identify as liberals. Again, though, doesn't mean they're making a lot of money much less rich. I'm proud to say I go against that grain, however, in that I have a J.D. and identify as a conservative on the vast majority of issues. You be surprised how many lawyers I know that are democrats/liberal though, especially to be in MS. So from my own experience I can say there is some legitimacy to the statistics.

Never ceases to amaze me that people always confuse education and actual intelligence.

Credentials do not equal education.

Well if it was true you might say its odd.
more educated AND more wealthy voted for Hillary, predominantly.
"The spread was even wider among the highest earners. For those earning $250,000 or more — roughly the top 5 percent of households — 53 percent planned to vote for Mrs. Clinton while 25 percent favored Mr. Trump. The survey’s margin of error was plus or minus four points."
Maybe do a little digging first.

People with business degrees tend to be more Republican and make more money. People with other degrees tend to be more Democratic and make less money. This has been true for many years.
Obviously neither tendency is 100%.

This. The "well educated" are often participants in the circle jerk that is modern academia. They brainwash each other, and as many dupes that come along as they can.
I would be much more interested in seeing the voting habits of self-made successful people vs the "well educated."
BTW, some of the stupidest people I've ever met have multiple degrees. Regurgitation is not necessarily a marketable skill.

I will call it like I see it....
My 2cents (as I take out my very broad brush):
1st concept is success does not equal wealth in some instances. If we are linking success to wealth:
The "successful" people fall into these categories:
- the ultra wealthy
- the "working" sheltered world wealthy
- the "working" real world wealthy
The ultra wealthy consist of the Uber rich east /west coast billionaires and Hollywood types. They live in a very artificial controlled environment which is often times out of touch with the real world that they scoff at. The have very limited direct skin in the game and are immune to most of the consequence imposed on the lesser folks. They are very well intentioned and have no problem feeling confident in their ability to fix everyone's problems (due to their out of touch anecdotal experiences). As a group, they lean left...
The working / sheltered world wealthy consist of politicians, academicians, lawyers (whole 'nother discussion) types. They too live in a very artificially controlled environment which is often times out of touch with the real world they are insulated from. They have very limited skin in the game and are immune to most of the consequence imposed on the lesser folks (quite honestly they rarely interact with lesser folk, mainly just one another). They too are very well intentioned and have no problem feeling confident in their ability to fix everyone's problems (as long as it does not impact them significantly). As a group, they lean left..
The working / real world wealthy consist of the STEM graduates, physicians, engineers, small businesses owners types. They live in the real world governed by market forces and constructs imposed on them (in part by the 2 former groups). They interact with all aspects of the public (good and bad). The have skin in the game. They see day in and day out the true human condition and realize there are no easy fixes / policies to cure all of humanities problems. As a group, they lean right.

I've always heard that the wealth in this country was overwhelming held by liberals. I honestly don't know. Just my understanding

The wealth in this country is overwhelmingly held by statists who want to use government power to maintain their quality of life.
Google, Amazon, Facebook, etc all started out as disruptors. But the minute they became wealthy...they went straight to Uncle Sugar to try and freeze the market.
