So let me get this straight...

The FBI/Justice Dept knew that the Russians were bribing and extorting their way into the US's uranium industry to increase Russian nuclear capacity. They developed sources that made recordings and documented evidence to this effect.
Head of FBI when this investigation initiated - Mueller
Head of FBI for majority of investigation - Comey
Leading investigation - (then) US Attorney Rod Rosenstein
Supervising investigation for FBI - Andrew McCabe
Are you serious?
So fast forward a few years - Comey gets fired, and Rod Rosenstein (now DOJ lead with Sessions recusing) immediately calls for a special council into Trump/Russia and names MUELLER to head the special council.
As you'll recall McCabe's wife was given an enormous amount of money for a state leg race by the Clintons. Trump has called for McCabe to be fired.
If you don't think this SMELLS I got nothin.

Obama administration ordered the Trump surveillance, ordered the Trump unmasking, leaked false accusations to their MSM allies, and DID NOT PREVENT PUTIN INTERFERENCE AGAINST BOTH DNC AND GOP TARGETS!

A Russian arranged a system of kickbacks with a US trucking company. That corruption in no way led to any "increase in ... nuclear capacity").

"Before the Obama administration approved a controversial deal in 2010 giving Moscow control of a large swath of American uranium, the FBI had gathered substantial evidence that Russian nuclear industry officials were engaged in bribery, kickbacks, extortion and money laundering designed to grow Vladimir Putin’s atomic energy business inside the United States, according to government documents and interviews.
Federal agents used a confidential U.S. witness working inside the Russian nuclear industry to gather extensive financial records, make secret recordings and intercept emails as early as 2009 that showed Moscow had compromised an American uranium trucking firm with bribes and kickbacks in violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, FBI and court documents show.
They also obtained an eyewitness account — backed by documents — indicating Russian nuclear officials had routed millions of dollars to the U.S. designed to benefit former President Bill Clinton’s charitable foundation during the time Secretary of State Hillary Clinton served on a government body that provided a favorable decision to Moscow, sources told The Hill.
The racketeering scheme was conducted “with the consent of higher level officials” in Russia who “shared the proceeds” from the kickbacks, one agent declared in an affidavit years later."

Now we know why Trump allowed Mueller & rosenstein to do their thing to be special investigator. It allowed him to squash the Russia investigation. He can now fire all of them with just cause.
