Let's pass a bad bill, so we can get it to conference and then hack it to bits!

Lindsey Graham says skinny repeal is a "political cop-out" and a "disaster" and he'd only vote for it so it can go to conference.

Portman says coming out of lunch that McConnell made very clear that skinny repeal is a vehicle to get to conference.

When the conference committee fails to reach an agreement (which it will), the House will vote the Skinny Repeal through.
15M will lose insurance in the first year. Premiums will increase by at least 20%.
Good job, Republicans?

I can't see the positive benefit to any bill to throw a monkey wrench into such a huge percentage of our economy which is drafted on the fly in the afternoon and voted on without any consideration at all. This is just "pass anything" insanity.

Yeah I don't get the strategy of passing a bill they openly admit is a bad bill in hopes the House doesn't pass it. Sounds like enough R's in the Senate are leery of the strategy though that it will not pass.

This is the opposite of how the ACA was passed.
Wouldn't it be fun to see Trump do a town hall on health care (like Obama did), or go to the Democratic retreat to explain his health plan.
He thinks life insurance is health insurance.

It is political cover. Those things usually bite you on the arse in the end. I see this being no different.
The thing is the Rs will drop poison pills in it during conference to make sure it can't get through.

If by "lose," you mean, willingly forego, then you are correct.

By lose I mean be priced out of the market.

You must have totally approved of how the ACA was passed then, as you seem to think that is a good means of enacting major policy.
If you think it was an irresponsible means of enacting major policy, say so. And say so today. Because they are writing health care legislation on cocktail napkins right now for vote today.

They're already priced out, but pay it to avoid the penalty. They will bail when they no longer face a tax consequence.

I'll say this method of killing Obamacare is appropriate since it's the same method that was used to give birth to it.
ETA: Except now the bill will go to a conference committee so that everyone will see what's in it. Obamacare passed without any public disclosure of the contents of the entire bill.

Of course the historical record disputes your spin, but if that's all you expect of Article I national representatives, I'd like to kindly and respectfully request that you no longer vote. I'd like to see some folks with higher standards get elected.

Nah, I'll keep voting early and often......
