Our tax dollars are being used for this in some states. That's why I care.

I don't care what gender that you identify with. But if you want to change your body to reflect your identity, it should be considered "cosmetic" and not paid for by taxes or insurance.

Your tax dollars go to an endless parade of bullshite and dubious ideas. Worrying about every single line item is a good way to waste your life being miserable.

If a surgery is recommended by doctors for mental health issues then by all means people have the right to do this. Just because it's against your religion or creeps you out doesn't mean you get to ban it. That's not how the US works.

If i have to take the word of many health care professionals or you on what is considered "necessary surgery" i think i will leave it to the majority of professionals on this one.

In some states, or in YOUR state? If not in your state, what do you care?

Surgery is also only covered when medicaly necessary. Link.

No. That's my default position on this question for anything.

In this case, think of it as plastic surgery. It's a free country. If you want doctors to make you look like something you are not, it's entirely your business.

I don't think elective surgery should have to be covered by your insurance.

Yes. At this juncture the goal should be removing laws. Not creating new ones.

Why should my taxes/insurance pay for liposuction, gastric sleeves, gastric bypass, insulin and all the surgeries and medications caused by obesity & type 2 diabetes due to people eating shite and drinking sodas all day long? Because that's a hell of a lot more $$$ than what you are whining about.

The amount spent on this is a drop in the bucket compared to the shite tax money is wasted on. Basically negligent. If Louisiana started spending money on it I'd have a problem with it because it's my state and we're broke. If MA wants to, I don't care. States rights vs federal government.
