It seems more and more issues these days are defined by poor vs. rich. Particularly it seems there are a lot of people who seem to think the poor have no responsibility to contribute to society. No doubt some of the liberals do not believe the poor capable of contributing--they think little of their individual abilities thus they expect little or nothing from them.
So in that light I have to believe we might be better off starting project communities in gated areas where the poor could live rent free, eat their meals free, free health care and get a certain level of clothing free. They would of course have to travel on community transportation and live under the rules of the community. To live like this with all expenses paid they would have to agree to the rules.
Because we would be giving these people everything they need to live we could put rules in place--no tobacco, no cable TV, no alcohol, no drugs, kids must attend the community school and pass, no this and that. We could even take their pay checks if they work and hold all the revenue until such time they had enough money to make it outside the institutional community.
I wonder if we did that would the 250 preachers who signed that petition to Jindal and the democrats be happy??
Just wondering. :)
