I will give Trump credit for those 700 jobs if anyone of you will admit that there have been far more jobs shipped south of the border since 1/20/17 which may have been stopped HAD there been the border tax imposed as promised during the campaign....

Yeah I doubt we'll ever get our border tax, which is too bad.

You should thank Trump. He allowed you to prove to the board that you can actually criticize a President. You know, after 8 years of not ever doing so.

The reads like a "Bo Knows" commercial:

• Trump promises to save Carrier plant
• Trump supporters celebrate
• Carrier plant remains open but months later lays off some workers as originally planned
• A want points out Trump's failed promise and claims plant is closing
• A want clearly doesn't read his own article or research the issue
• A want celebrates American job losses in a fever pitch to "get a win" for his side
Trump supporters call a want a loon for pointing it out
• A want continues to deny and claim plant closure
• A want loves his WaPo

Ah, you left out this piece that confirms that the cuts were expected at the time of the campaign announcements:

quote:
Holly Gillham, a spokesman for the Indiana Economic Development Corp., which was formerly led by Vice President Pence, said Monday's notice of jobs cuts was consistent with Carrier’s arrangement with the state and Trump. “As announced in December, Carrier is fully committed to retaining more than 1,000 jobs in Indiana over the next 10 years,” she said in an email.

“By choosing to maintain these Hoosier jobs, Carrier is showing confidence in Indiana’s skilled manufacturing workforce.”

Only you and your ilk celebrate the loss of American jobs to Mexico you POS. The piece from WaPo, which effectively serves as your bible, meanders all over the place trying to hook this to Trump and paint it as a Trump failure, but contradicts itself with quotes from Carrier and the State confirming that the layoffs were expected.

Try harder. Loser.

SO, as I have said....kudoos to Trump for saving those jobs...good show! Now where is the pressure to place a tax on products that are imported from plants that were moved out of the country??? Seriously??

I am completely serious....what is more important...a border wall or protecting US Workers who have jobs right now? Trump promised to tax products that were imported from plants which had replaced plants in the United States......even if he meant plants which replaced jobs after 1/20/17 there are plenty of products pouring across the border today that would fit that category which have not had any increase in taxation.

According to DoL stats since 1/20/17 and 3/1/17 nearly 12,000 jobs have left the US for plants overseas. Those jobs may well have stayed in the US had Trump made good on his promise to tax the products that workers produced when they replaced US workers.

There has been zero movement on this front...meanwhile thousands of individuals are losing their jobs....

Actually it's 4 dollars a day.

IMO in today's world that's damn near slavery. We shouldn't have any type of trade relationship with a country whose wages are that low.

Of course we won't...but Trump opened up the pandora's box and for 30 years any politician from either party who suggests such a thing will have a leg up on the competition....Democrats did it for years prior to the Reagan revolution when it became popular knowledge that such taxes would harm the economy....now that Trump and the GOP has abandoned that idea there is nothing stopping a politician from either side promising labor all sorts of shite....

Typical idiot. You only hear words and want to rip everyone else over words. I think Trump did everything he could to HELP them stay. Sucks that they couldn't.

And I'm pretty sure the responses were not MAGA. They were talking about Pence using state tax exemptions to help them out. Then the left started crying about that too

Wow. A little over 150 days in office. It's a little disingenuous to expect Trump to do in less than 6 months what his predecessor couldn't do in 8 years.

quote:

During his run for president in 2008, Obama promised to “end those tax breaks to companies that ship jobs overseas.” It was a pledge he made repeatedly on the campaign trail.

I understand the backlash I'll get from the "but Obama" crowd, but I don't take anyone serious that wasn't critical of the previous Administration for promising the same thing that the current Administration has promised and not giving the same time frame as the previous administration. If Trump doesn't get it done in the same time frame, then the criticism is warranted.

I don't recall you or a want using the same vitriol against O as you do with Trump.

Ignore their pleas for us to ignore what Obama did or didn't do. They want us to wipe that from our memories because apparently history doesn't matter to them.

It's just a way for them to cope with the loss SHE took. Being with HER must be difficult.

Bottom line is that Presidencies have always compared and always will be. They will be doing it AGAIN the next time they run out some SJW that wins the office. Then, they won't want to hear "whataboutism".

Didn't Obama promise that his Affordable Care Act would lower the cost of health insurance premiums?
