Then Pence un-ties it.

McConnell must think he has the votes or he wouldn't bring this to the floor for another embarrassing defeat, right?
That's what he said last time......

I think Collins or Murkowski are a yes.

I don't know why liberals are in this thread assuming collins or murkowski are nos.

They have NOT said anything yet.

Rand will switch to a yes by next week. He just needs a few days to grand stand.

I have always ranked this last among my Trump "promises" and don't really like any of these healthcare bills - I'd have favoured straight repeal to bring us back to 2011. Do fellow #MAGA baws agree?

The spending for healthcare remains the same so that sucks.

However the states get to spend the money as they see fit instead of the federal government. So in effect some states will continue to have Obamacare and other states (probably red states) won't. Also it really f's the blue states over b/c they are getting more money per capita currently than the red states. The red states will gain a lot of healthcare dollars if this bill passes.

Another big plus is it puts a cap on Medicare spending.

It's not full repeal. That's what I would like. But it's my understanding you need 60 votes in the senate to get full repeal so that's not happening.

This bill is a step in the right direction.

McCain is going to vote yes IMO.

He trolled Trump bigly and got it out of his system.

Sadly, neither this bill or the one it's replacing will have done a fricking thing to "reform" healthcare.

All either bill is doing is changing who is paying for it.

It does put caps on Medicare spending.

I don't know what that means but it sounds good.

Exactly how does that reform healthcare?

Doesn't do shite to lower core caregiver costs or improve patient outcomes.

If they are holding a vote, they think it will pass.

That's not to say one of the scumbags flips at the last minute, but there's no way they would hold a vote unless they had assurances from the fence sitters.

It doesn't.

I'm hoping if this bill gets passed it will put the onus on state legislatures to make reforms in their own states. The predictable outcomes will be places like Georgia and Alabama will do well and places like California will continue down the fiscal spiral.

Mccain is likely a yes. Graham wouldn't put his name on this unless his butt buddy McCain gave him permission.

It will allow people to once again fall over dead in the streets due to a lack of insurance, just as they did pre-Obamacare. BamaAtl said so.

Extrapolating on that, once they are dead, they will no longer need healthcare, leading to lower costs.

In all seriousness, it puts it back in the individual state's hands, which hopefully will allow them to tailor markets to their states needs and lower costs that way. Maybe?

Seriously, it will depend on what state you live in and how your state legislature implements the plan.

Yep.

I also find it hard to believe that Rand Paul would vote against it knowing his vote would keep Obamacare in place as is.

The new bill isn't perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better. Pass it now, get it signed. Then immediately go to work on another bill to repeal even more.

I am thinking Rand flips. Might even get Collins as she was coauthor of a similar bill with Cassidy.

Sadly, once an entitlement program is born, politicians will never kill it. They'll just volley it back and forth between sides and tweak it to their preferences and then sell you the same turd.
