The Senate has blocked a wide-ranging proposal by Republicans to repeal much of former President Barack Obama’s health care law and replace it with a more restrictive plan. Senators voted 57-43 late Tuesday to reject the plan in the first vote on an amendment to the bill. Those voting “no” included nine defecting Republicans.

You do realize even hard every republican voted yes, it would have failed? This proposal required 60 which I will state again, will NEVER happen. Whine and cry and pout and point fingers but it's a known reality and must be dealt with

It wasn't just the GOPe that opposed this bullshite bill. Some of the best Senators in the GOP opposed it because it was utter garbage.

Yeah, this outcome was fully expected. The number of R No's was a little surprising, but a few probably knew it wasn't going anywhere.
We're heading to a vote-a-rama on a bunch of amendments that likely won't end up repealing much of Obamacare. I do believe anything that's worked out in conference with House also has a 60 vote threshold, though I may be wrong on that.

This vote doesn't matter (except for how bad it makes McCain look).
The only vote that matters is the one on the last amendment McConnell will substitute in at the end of vote-a-rama.
Which will be unknown until that moment, and affects 1/6 of our economy.
