Sen. Paul (R-KY) has been to 30 states in the last 12 months leading up to the midterm elections to help U.S. Senate, U.S. House, gubernatorial, and state and local Republican candidates nationwide. He has keynoted state GOP conventions in Texas, California, Idaho, and Maine and rallied students at colleges and universities, ranging from the conservative University of South Carolina to liberal Berkeley to the bellwether Universities of Iowa and New Hampshire—and many in between. He’s been leading inner city GOP efforts in Detroit, Chicago, and even the race-riot-rocked Ferguson, Missouri. Paul was the only national elected Republican who spoke at the National Urban League conference. Reince Priebus, the chairman of the RNC, also spoke there.

For someone who has not run for president—at least not yet—Paul’s probably been the GOP’s most visible and most sought after surrogate this year.
“We’ve been getting a lot of requests, and people reach out because they think we can get voters beyond the Republican Party, we can reach independents, and in the last final days of elections, elections go one way or another based on undecideds,” Paul said. “That’s where the real power is in politics—in those who can sway the uncommitted. I think a lot of the invitations we’ve gotten, frankly, are because they think we can have influence on the independent voters.”

Whatever it is about Paul that intrigues voters is working. He says it’s because he appeals to a wide swath of independent-minded voters he calls the “leave-me-alone coalition.”

Wait till he really gets on the national stage and is scrutinized. This man is as big a flake as his ..dad. As I said in another post - he couldn't get board certified in his specialty so he created some fake lame board certification process that passes anybody with the money. Wait until he gets asked difficult questions. Not gotcha - just the level of scrutiny that I expect anyone running for president to undergo - either party.

Flake eh? Guess you never watched the video protest about the Iraq war.

Some people just want to live in blissful ignorance.

Good luck with that. Do you think that VB or TT9 would stop telling lies that fit their argument? It's just what they do.

What do VB and TT9 have to do with this? They haven't even posted on this thread.

Just dropped back into this thread to say I just saw this Paul-endorsing-Brown commercial for the first time on live television (I had seen it online a few times) - twice, and just two minutes apart on the same broadcast. The commercial was just released this week and I have a feeling it will be running a lot between now and Tuesday, partly due to its brevity, which works in its favor. There is almost no commercial air time left to be bought in NH and Boston markets between now and Tuesday, and most of the Shaheen and Brown commercials run 30 seconds. Making this 15 second ad featuring Paul allowed access to scattered 15 second blocks which make up almost all of the available time. The Shaheen campaign just got refunded a bunch of money because the state's only commercial channel oversold and had to cancel the ads. A pro-Brown conservative action PAC just got the last "prize" ad space remaining on Boston's CBS affiliate - a 30 second spot during the Patriots-Broncos broadcast on Sunday at a cost of $100,000 . They know everything stops in NH when these two teams play and ratings will be through the roof. Smart move by them.

Brown and Shaheen have their final debate in about 30 minutes from now, to be moderated by George Stephanopoulos (he who is known for "War on Women" questions when moderating debates). ARG poll released today shows them tied at 49-49. Not often, even this late, that a poll shows only 2% undecided. In a race projected to be this tight, in a state that has no early voting, I'm guessing both candidates will be playing it as safe as they can. Trying to throw a knockout punch could be seen as an act of desperation by either candidate and that 2% still hanging in the balance could probably be swayed by the smallest misstep. I would guess that Shaheen would love to mention today's 3.5% GDP growth, but since she has been actively running away from the current administration for months now, trying to take credit for it as an incumbent Dem. Senator would open Pandora's Box and Brown could turn that upside down for her by pointing out that she can't have it both ways. After several debates with the sharp and quick-minded solid debater Elizabeth Warren two years ago, debating the slow-on-her-feet Shaheen puts Brown on more even footing, as Brown is a bit slow on the draw, debate-wise, himself.

Typical uneducated distortion

quote:

In 1995, Paul passed the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) boards on his first attempt and earned board-certification under the ABO for 10 years. In 1997, to protest the ABO's 1992 decision to grandfather in older ophthalmologists and not require them to be recertified every 10 years in order to maintain their status as board-certified practitioners, Paul, along with 200 other ophthalmologists, formed the National Board of Ophthalmology (NBO) to offer an alternative ophthalmology certification system.[28][29] The NBO was incorporated in 1999, but he allowed it to be dissolved in 2000 after not filing the required paperwork with the Kentucky Secretary of State's office. Paul later recreated the board in September 2005, three months before his original 10-year certification from the ABO lapsed. His ABO certification lapsed on December 31, 2005. Paul has since been certified by the NBO,[23] with himself as the organization's president, his wife as vice-president, and his father-in-law as secretary.[30] The ophthalmology board is not officially recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties(ABMS).[23] The NBO was again dissolved on September 10, 2011.[31]

ETA interesting how most of this is twisted by the right. Some seem to feel threatened.
