Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., isn't ready to give up yet on repealing and replacing Obamacare after the House GOP pulled the American Health Care Act from a vote on Friday, despite President Trump's insisting that his administration is moving on to tax reform.

"I think legislators can walk and chew gum hopefully at the same time, so why don't we do both? Why don't we set up a special committee," Paul told Fox News fill-in host Eric Bolling on "The O'Reilly Factor" Friday evening.

Paul, who was an ally to the House Freedom Caucus in their holdout over the Obamacare replacement bill, said the Trump administration should host the group, as well as House and Senate leadership at the White House and begin a "continuing conversation" about overturning the Affordable Care Act. Trump had met with members of the HFC multiple times during the past few days in the run-up to the expected vote.

"It doesn't have to be at the breakneck pace that it has been the last three days, but let's keep talking about it until we work it out," Paul said. "If we are going to talk about taxes simultaneously and move legislatively to that before we have the answer, so be it. But you can work both tracks, and whichever one comes to a resolution first, bring it to the floor for a vote."

This... is a leader.

If only there were 59 more senators and 170 more Congressmen like him.

It's called common sense. Rand Pauls statement is what the Speaker should be saying.

There is no doubt the ACA needs to be repaired. But replacing it with a terrible plan is not the answer.Hats off to those who voted it down.

I think all on the hill are willing to make the plan more effective. It will happen eventually.

I trust Louie before I would trust Speaker Ryan.

Louie Gohmert: GOP Leadership 'LIED' to Trump About Obamacare Repeal - YouTube-VIDEO

Rep. Jordan, a member of the much derided House Freedom Caucus, reiterated the familiar words of many Republican candidates across the country just before introducing H.R. 1436:

This was passed before, Jim Jordon reintroed it: Why did Speaker Ryan diss this?

quote:

“Our goal is real simple: Bring down the cost of insurance for working families and middle-class families across this country. In an effort to do that we think you have to get rid of Obamacare completely. So tomorrow I will introduce a bill that every single Republican voted on just 15 months ago – the bill that actually repeals Obamacare. Our plan has always been repeal in one piece of legislation and replace in the other.

Yep

And it will be the likes of the Freedom Caucus and Rand Paul and Ted Cruz that prevent a budget that actually cuts spending from happening

We just fricked up something bigly that republicans everywhere wanted and he thinks we can do both at the same time?

Nah, we need to be taking this one step at a time and make sure the GOP can get on the same page on a core issue where there is more consensus and prove we can actually get a landmark victory before going back to healthcare.

At least that way with a tax framework already set in stone, the GOP will have something better to work with for healthcare.

I like Rand Paul and am lukewarm on Ted Cruz but our style of government was built on pragmatism and compromise and both houses reflected that belief for a very long time with parliamentary rules that enforced that.

Capitol hill is no place for grandstanding Ideologues.

Trump's budget will be the first budget to cut spending in decades and they are going to stand against it. Just watch.
