Scholarships being given to women's march participants

Went to visit my daughter at her college this weekend. Her roommate is a stereotypical confused liberal that has no sense of morals. My daughter is counting down the days till the end of the semester. The roommate left yesterday to ride a chartered bus to D.C. to participate in the women's rights march. She told my daughter that participants received the all expenses paid trip plus "scholarship" money as a thank you. I guess that is how they avoid calling this income. My daughter said she should have also gone and taken the cash and then disappeared during the march to visit the museums. It was tempting, but the thought of riding on a bus full of feminist seemed like hell.
