Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) early Sunday criticized the notion that President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin could work together to form an "impenetrable Cyber Security unit."

In a series of tweets, the Florida senator said Putin can never be a "trusted ally." "While reality & pragmatism requires that we engage Vladimir Putin, he will never be a trusted ally or a reliable constructive partner," Rubio tweeted. "Partnering with Putin on a 'Cyber Security Unit' is akin to partnering with Assad on a 'Chemical Weapons Unit.' We have no quarrel with Russia or the Russian people. Problem is with Putin & his oppression, war crimes & interference in our elections."

Anyone with a sane mind can see it is good to be on more friendly terms with Russia. However, they will never truly be our friends geo-politically. They are constantly in a IO campaign against us throughout the world. We do not need help from the Russians on cyber security. We need to beef up our own defense and offense. Marco understands this and Marco also understands what it takes to keep the American people safe!

It is bizarro for Trump to propose setting up a joint cyber-security partnership under the present circumstances, when there is a general feeling that Russia meddled in our election. (I didn't say hacked; I didn't say influenced; I didn't say colluded - I jut said meddled).

I'll bet there are several regulars on here that are dying to explain to me how this is Trump playing 4D chess.

No it isn't bizarre. He has been trolling for 6 months. Why don't you watch what actually happens instead of sitting on the edge of your seat for every shred of what he says?

Setting it up with Russia makes a lot more sense than setting it up with Democrats. If you share anything with those assholes you may as well hire a plane to fly it over stadiums and share it with the world, given the dems utter cyber incompetence and their general dishonesty.

And why is it a bad idea for us to partner with a cheater if it provides a nucleus to understand how they cheat??? And let's not be naive - everyone admits, including the insider spooks of the CIA and FBI that we cheat too! So if we want all this to stop and we honestly don't know now how to stop them from getting into our systems, then why not?

It really is absurd to think we could trust the Russians in an endeavor such as this.

Trumpateers will certainly try their hardest to do so.

just to be clear, we can replace "Russia" with just about anyone else, including Canada and the UK, and it would still be absurd

Again, watch what actually happens vs. random spitballing.

Damn, this is Charlie Brown and the football at this point.

and again, the russians are more trustworthy than democrats.

The OP is clearly a bigger fan of Rubio than I but at least he's right on this one. What on earth would we want to partner with Russia on security when they're the damn spies!?

We trust them enough to get our astronauts to space and back. Just saying.
