You just described Obama succinctly.

Well done.

I like how you qualify your statements. It is like a CYA clause embedded within each post.

quote:

so no, this is far from the thing that concerns me most about him

What are your concerns, if any?

Yep. They're both exactly the same. That's been my argument on here for months.

re: Romney changing positions
Is that kinda like Obama changing positions on the national debt? or the deficit? Or gay marriage? or trayvon's resemblance to his non-existent son? or how much corporate welfare the banks should get?

I bet nobody can say with certainty where Mitt stands on anything. Anything. Think about that.
Where does Obama stand on Gay Marriage, closing Gitmo, bringing the troops home, Rev. Wright, Islam, Ayers, earmarks, Rezco, a budget, wiretapping, transparency, domestic oil production, the Capital of Israel, cutting the deficit, .....

re: Romney changing positions
quote:

Give us an example of what you're talking about.

Mitt v. Mitt

On health care:

•"I'm proud of what we've done. If Massachusetts succeeds in implementing [Romneycare], then that will be a model for the nation." Speech in Baltimore, 2007
•"[Romneycare] is something that was crafted for Massachusetts. It would be wrong to adopt this as a nation." Presidential primary debate, 2011

On abortion rights:

•"I believe that since Roe v. Wade has been the law for 20 years we should sustain and support it." Debate with Sen. Edward Kennedy, 1994
•"I do support the Republican platform, and I support that being part of the Republican platform, and I'm pro-life." The Huffington Post, November 2011

On gay rights:

•"I'll be better than Ted Kennedy on gay rights" Interview with Bay Windows, 1994
•"I opposed then, and I do now, gay marriage and civil union." The New York Times, 2012

On conservatism:

•"I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush. I'm not trying to return to Reagan-Bush." Debate with Sen. Edward Kennedy, 1994
•"I fought against long odds in a deep blue state, but I was a severely conservative Republican governor," Conservative Political Action Conference, 2012

Why would I want a president so solid in his ideals he won't do what the people elect him to do or find compromise with the opposite side for the sake of getting shite done.

You misunderstand me. That was a observation of respect. I deal with legal jargon all day long and have to CYA (or CMA) with everything I write all day because it can be considered legal advice. Every email I send out, etc. So, it was meant as a sign of respect of one who thinks about what they say when they are saying it.

And my question about your concerns was simply out of curiosity as do not come across as a "politard" but someone who might say something that makes me think or consider.

Reading comprehension not your thing? Building a model for states of the nation vs a federal implementation? Ah, frick it, just use the words however it fits you...

Hmmm...sounds familiar...

I can with confidence say that a few nights ago Mitt stood on Obamas neck and stomped his ass. Think about that!

[quoteWelcome to the Poli Board. The following passes for logic:
quote:
The election isn't about Romney it's about getting rid of Obama. We can worry about Romney once Obama is gone. One thing a time]. [/quote]

Is doing nothing but constantly telling everyone you are in favor of an alternative for which there is literally an absolute zero chance of it ever coming to pass, somehow inherently more "logical"?

To the casual observer.

Nope. That just is not the case. Just because he doesn't rule out military action, does not make him or anyone else "pro-war."

This philosophy sure worked well for Sen. Bennett or Sen Lugar. The days of political compromise seem to be coming to an end in DC. The far right and far left will try and primary you out if you do.

re: Romney changing positions
Most of his position changes have been on social issues. Economically and fiscally he has been pretty consistent.

I can forgive him his social issue changes because imo your social stances change a lot more than your economic ones.
