Rich Lowry hammers the Gosnell case home...

LINK

quote:

The right to abortion is the sneakiest, most shame-faced of all American rights. Its most devoted supporters don’t dare speak its name. They hide behind evasion and euphemism and cant

quote:

So Obama sang a hymn of praise to Planned Parenthood at the organization’s annual conference without mentioning what makes it so distinctive and controversial. He said it is a group women “count on for so many important services.” He said its core principle is “that women should be allowed to make their own decisions about their own health.” He excoriated opponents involved “in an orchestrated and historic effort to roll back basic rights when it comes to women’s health.”

quote:

Listening to him, you could be forgiven for thinking that the country is riven by a fierce dispute over whether women should be allowed to choose their own ob-gyns or decide whether to take contraceptives or to get cancer screenings. One side is pro-women’s health, the other anti. In his speech, the president said the word “cancer” seven times. About that he is happy to be straightforward.

quote:

Imagine if he had been similarly frank about the rest of Planned Parenthood’s work: “In 2011, according to your annual report, your clinics or affiliates performed 330,000 abortions. That’s a lot of abortion. Over 10 years more than 3 million. Thank you, Planned Parenthood. Think of all those women who wanted to terminate their pregnancies and you were there for them. That’s what you do. That’s what you are about. And that’s what this country is about.”

What I've been screaming for weeks re the left's deference to life but want to criminalize owning a firearm b/c of the death of 20 children.

Sanctimonious bitches. (yes...mad)

Before it was shamed into covering the case largely by the work of journalists Kirsten Powers and Mollie Hemingway, the press ignored the case as an uninteresting disagreement between a doctor and prosecutors over a matter of reproductive health. Even when the media began to write about it, some outlets couldn’t quite face it.

quote:

In a story about the case, The New York Times referred to the newborns killed by Gosnell as “fetuses.” The definition of a fetus according to Merriam-Webster is “an unborn or unhatched vertebrate.” By definition, the newborns weren’t fetuses; they weren’t unborn. But the Times couldn’t bring itself to use the word “baby,” which has so many positive connotations and problematic implications.

quote:

This is the crux of the matter: If it is a baby outside the womb, why not inside the womb? If a procedure to end its life is wrong outside the womb, why isn’t it wrong inside the womb? Or conversely, if it is acceptable in the womb, why not outside?

The unwritten rule is that when the left discusses abortion it is never called “abortion,” but always referred to as “health” or, more specifically “reproductive health” — although abortion is the opposite of reproduction and for one party involved, the opposite of health.

So these abortions he performed, were they before or after the legal age limit? I haven't been able to find that.

What is the difference between post-birth murder and "murder murder."

And, have you read about the case at all? He is also on trial for killing babies who were born alive and he severed their necks with scissors while they squirmed and cried.

One baby was in the toilet trying to crawl out before they killed it.

Yes, he is, in fact on trial for "post birth murder," what we like to call simply, "murder."

Jurors are debating murder charges against Philadelphia abortion provider Dr. Kermit Gosnell as they start their third full day of deliberations in his trial.

The jury asked for help Friday distinguishing among the four babies Gosnell is accused of killing. Staff members at Gosnell's clinic have testified that they saw each one move, breathe or whine outside the mother's body before they were allegedly killed.

The jury has also asked for a list of drugs found during a 2010 clinic raid. Prosecutors say the abortion drug Digoxin was not found - although Gosnell says he used it to stop the babies' hearts in utero during late-term abortions.

The jury has been weighing more than 250 counts against Gosnell and a codefendant since Tuesday

OJ performed a "post birth termination" on Nicole as I recall.

Maybe if he had used scissors to the base of the skull and improved the semantics, he would still be a hero.

Were these 4 > or < 24 weeks?

So as a juror, I need to decide if he killed them before or after birth; because a murder conviction is the difference.

Don't know. I couldn't stomach reading most of the trial testimony, especially after reading Gosnell's joke that one of them was so big "he could take a walk to the park" or something like that. From what I do recall, the # of weeks gestation did take up quite a bit the prosecution testimony & defense cross.

ie, whether you believe Gosnell when he said he used Digoxin, yet none was found at the clinic, or the witnesses who saw the babies breathe, moan, move, etc.

I chose my words poorly...

I had read an article a few days ago where this intial trial was for the death of a young female while performing an abortion on her.

The resultant investigation is the killing of the babies after birth outside the womb, obviously after reading the CBS article I was wrong.

This says everything anyone needs to know about the subject of abortion. .

Because we haven't been worn down enough to accept outright infanticide yet. Got chisel around the edges more.

The hypocrisy is beyond "unreal." It is grotesque!
