We have heard a lot lately about tensions between the police and the communities that they serve, and the urgent need to reduce them. Here’s an easy first step: Stop lying about the cops.....

The logic of the de Blasio view tends toward the conclusion that the police are unbelievably insidious: They recruit people of all races to go into dangerous neighborhoods on the pretense of protecting innocent people there, when in reality the mission is to harass black kids and, should the opportunity arise, kill them.......

“Criminologists have spent decades trying to prove that the overrepresentation of blacks and Hispanic in prison demonstrates that the criminal justice system is racist. And each time they fail. Even the most left-wing academics have been forced to admit that crime, not race, determines criminal justice outcomes.”
Police go where the crime is, and at considerable risk to themselves.

Without "lying" Liberalism is left holding it's dick. The LIE is the essential ingredient that makes the whole Liberal Narrative purr. Asking them not to lie, is sheer fantasy. It's akin to asking for world peace. It's just not going to happen.

What political persuasion do you think the cops are, who stole the kid's phone and lied about being attacked outside the Varsity?

This is about cops and lying, right?

All the libertarians on this board can look forward to the backlash against law enforcement reforms. "Do you want more dead cops" will be the go to response to any criticism.

If only cops were a bunch of individuals, commiting many individual acts(some good some bad) backed by many individual motives and intentions(some good some bad)) every day instead of the evil , currupt hivemind that they are.

Uh, libertarians are not hostile toward police. Freedom = property and protection against infringements upon life and property. That would be the police and courts.
The current anti-police demonstrations are being run by Marxists. That's why they protest in Malls, the symbol of capitalism. Marxists are not libertarians. Quite the opposite.

If the investigation shows that they lied then they should be dealt with. BRPD has certainly been doing that a lot lately.

And the police should stop lying about the citizenry. How about they start wearing cameras so all the lying can stop?

FT, I debated so called 'Libertarian Socialists' before this board existed. It came down to two things:

I'm gay
I want to use drugs.

Otherwise I'm a liberal who loves Marxism.

I love cameras. It makes it easier for me when someone complains on my officer. I watch the video after the person files a complaint and most of the time, probably 90%, I advise them that if they continue with the complaint the officer will probably sue them for defamation of character. The video can be used in a civil proceeding. For the other 10% we discipline the officer.
