I heard Laura Ingrham earlier when she was asked what did Romney do wrong. She explained that the Republican party needed to elect a conservative who can explain the platform better. We tried putting up moderates like John McCain and Mitt Romney. I am not sure why we feel the need to sway from our core principles.
In 2008 McCain got 59 million votes in 2008 and Obama got 69 million.
This Election Romney got 57 million and Obama got 60 million.
Its obvious that the base for Obama didn't turn out like they did in 2008 but what is more telling is that Romney got less votes than did McCain.
This should say something about the Nominee. Although I grew to be excited to have Romney as the nominee, he wasn't my first choice. Santorum was the person who exhibited my core values. People are saying that the Republican party needs to change its platform on social issues. I can't disagree more. I believe we need to embrace our values and explain them better. We need to understand that we will never convince the liberals to see our point of view. As conservatives, we need to continue to appeal to our base, because its the only way we will win future elections.
