Report: Obama to restart Gitmo transfers

quote:

The Obama administration plans to restart transfers of detainees out of Guantánamo Bay as part of President Obama’s efforts to close the prison, The Wall Street Journal reports.

The president is planning to lift the restrictions on sending detainees to Yemen in the coming weeks, the Journal reports, citing unidentified U.S. officials.

A White House official would not confirm the report that the administration will lift the Yemen restrictions.

How many that Obama let out in the past returned to terrorism? This is as ludicrous as Obama giving terrorists on our soil witness protection and they got free. Congress blocked closing GTMO. So Obama is using this slick seedy tactic.

re: Report: Obama to restart Gitmo transfers
Cut the bull shite. Not everyone there is an actual terrorist. We don't need to be holding everyone there indefinitely if the only thing that they had going against them was a feud with a powerful neighbor.

The place is a black eye on our reputation. Additionally, the Yemeni government is a de facto US ally in the War on Terror and doesn't concern itself with the Geneva Conventions. If the detainees that are transferred are actual jihadis, they will be dealt with in a way that we never could by law.

I agree with most of this. The part that has me scratching my head is, didn't we just spend a fortune upgrading the place?

Then what are they? Are you accusing our JTF of holding people that are not terrorists? They have a brand new state of the art court, that cost millions built just for them to have tribunals. Are you saying you don't trust or are you ignorant to a military tribunal?

Yeah that didn't make sense to me at the time either, especially when you consider that, of the money spent, nearly $1 million of it was on a soccer field.

I bet we see them again, even if they call it "work place violence".

I know, right? What are we, Europe?

At least build them a baseball field and teach them a proper sport. Or maybe a football stadium. Think of the movies that could be made from that story alone... Remember the Titans meets Gridiron Gang meets Zero Dark Thirty.

More often then not they return to terrorism.

LINK

But the Obama pecker suckers that ran to this thread like the cock roaches they are; will still defend their progressive ways if someone is beheaded by terrorists on our streets like in the UK today.

re: Report: Obama to restart Gitmo transfers

U.S. intelligence agencies recently reported that 168 terrorists of 602 detainees that were transferred to other countries from Guantanamo rejoined terrorist groups or otherwise took part in insurgent and terrorist activities.

I don't think "more often than not" means what you think it means.
