Take it with a grain of salt via the source, but interesting....

quote:

Thousands of fast-food workers across 150 cities nationwide gathered today to call for a $15-an-hour minimum wage.

However, a report released today by James Sherk, senior policy analyst in labor economics at The Heritage Foundation, found that fast-food restaurants would have to boost their prices 38 percent to make up for the increased labor costs.

Not surprising, yet somehow progs/SJW's think that argument is false.

If any businesses labor costs are almost doubled, they're going to pass that on or possibly go under.

Not to mention the cost of having to get new signs to advertise their $1.38 menu items.

I would love to see their methodology for this. Not that I don't believe it, I do, but I'm a numbers guy and would love to see how they came up with it.

Those greedy capitalists would rather stick it to the little man rather than cut the pay of the fat cat CEOs!!!!!!

I'm gonna stick my nose up and say go ahead. I don't eat that stuff anyway and if you keep the fatties out of line, the nation might turn a lil healthier.

In the warped liberal mind, Business owners eat cost increases, especially an increase in their biggest cost, and will never ever pass it on to the customers.

This is where I am now.

However, this will end well for the Democrats.

How?

Well, people will have to be laid off due to the increases. Customers will quit buying the product and then you'll have more people on the tit!

Win win for progs!

Quit poisoning your body by eating fast food people. Save money and your health by cooking your own food. Raise their wages and let the prices go up. I'm tired of obese Americans who do nothing but eat McDonalds.

Edit: I guess chipotle isn't bad.

I eat it and will bet I am healthier than 90% of people on this board... However, if they raised prices nearly $3 on almost all of those meals, why the frick wouldn't you just go to a restaurant and pay another few bucks and get a real meal

I find it very interesting to see that labor is such a high component of their cost. really flabbergasted, since I would assume rent and input costs would the majority of the costs.

I see no problem with this. These prices are already the prices for fast food places here in Destin because the place is a tourist town.

Bragging about being healthier than people who post on a board based in south Louisiana, obesity capital of the U.S.

Congratulations

So Destin already pays their fast food workers $15 an hour?

It is for almost every business.

Let's assume the average McDonalds employee makes $9/hour. A pay increase to $15/hour is a 67% cost increase.

The fact that this article mentions prices going up 38% really isn't a stretch at all.

Your prices would still go up. Those are the average prices.

Exactly, thats why I asked him if the workers there were already paid $15/hr.

Unless I'm wrong, it was just another stupid statement in a long line from that guy...
