After 9/11, the right and left came together as one and both sides were angry and ready to start smashing skulls in the Middle East.
These days, the right still feels angry when terrorists attack the West, but liberals have changed and are totally politically correct and try to feel sorry for Muslims and tip toe around the elephant in the room.

All national crises involving Muslims are ignored by progs and swept under the rug by the MSM.
A Muslim in the USA can walk into a gay club (a bastion of progressivism) and kill 49 people and wound 53 others, and progs ignore his motivation and blame his tool and deride those who spot the pattern. And the whole matter passes from the news cycle in a couple of week.
