Remember Jindal and Villere fought elected Paul delegates to the convention

Over the years Jindal and Villere had made a bunch of state GOP rules they thought would allow them a better chance to hand pick the delegates to the National GOP convention. They made rules that said Louisiana GOP caucuses instead of the actually primary would pick the delegates to the state convention where the national convention delegates would be selected.

It backfired in 12.

Paul supporters flooded the caucuses and dominated the delegates selected to go to the state convention in Shreveport.

It was an important moment in the 2012 election process because had Paul arrived in Tampa with the Louisiana delegation supporting him there is a very good chance he would have had the opportunity to address the convention ala Reagan in 76.

Romney certainly would have still gotten the nomination but perhaps Paul's speech would have compelled Romney to adopt some of Paul's stands and given him a better chance in the general election. Instead the McCain republicans simply ran a bland choice of a liberal vs Obama with little message of change many voters wanted.

On a day in history when Jindal's man Villere could have stood for liberty and individual freedom he elected to stand with politicians. Villere refused to consider any delegate slate the Paul delegates proposed and went with the old guard committed to Romney. He broke the very rules he helped write.

Now Jindal will move toward Paul as the politician sees Paul resonating with voters. We in Louisiana know the true Jindal and saw his commitment to liberty and individual freedom manifested in Villere's actions in Shreveport.

GOP enjoys having libertarians associated with their party for marketing purposes, but when it comes to election time they usually throw them under the bus.

The marketing angle turns into a don't throw your vote away campaign that reads like: "if you vote for libertarian then you're an a-hole".

Yes Russian I do.

Do you think republicans running for President will move away from Ron Paul's positions or toward them.

Certainly Rand Paul doesn't have far to move.

Interesting that is all you elected to comment on after reading that post.
