Reasons for escalating war in Afghanistan?

1. Trumps attempt to regain control of political narrative from divisive white supremacy vs BLM storyline and instead refocus media attention on something which has frequently brought us together as a nation: war.

Not saying that is a suitable reason at all but why announce this now? Seems like a wag the dog scenario, no?

Tha timetable for this announcement first targeted late July. It was deleted a few weeks. This was no spur of the moment action.
