From The Hayride, a quote from an unknown source?

[quote]"Black people who were never slaves are fighting white people who were never Nazis or slave owners over a confederate statue erected by democrats, because democrats can't stand their own history anymore and somehow it's Trumps fault?" -

1many descended from them

2all of whom would have switched over to the republican party ala Thurmond types in the 60's, or at least have left the democrtatic party ala your Byrd types by the 70's. Implying the party is the same is beyond idiotic

3because the southern wing of the party was run by social conservative racists

4not sure what Trump has to do with anything

95 percent of us, roughly, are descended from slaves.

social conservative racists

Then you acknowledge he's being unfairly attacked on this out of pure pretext and partisan politics?

Great to agree on something.

You're an idiot if you think the party isn't still very much the same. The Marxist portion that has now gained full control of the party has been infiltrating the democratic party at least as far back as the 1910's. Woodrow Wilson helped build the national foundation of what the Democratic Party is today.

Did I say "black African slaves"? 95% chance someone in your family tree was owned. Maybe not since the 15th Century, but getting back to the 1st to 10th Centuries or before? Yeah, buddy, your people were slaves too (in all likelihood).

nope, fact

Well, then your facts are bullshite, frankly.

The "Dixiecrats" didn't vote for Nixon in 1968 - they voted for WALLACE. They didn't become Republicans overnight, or really at all. The Democrat party, particularly nationally, went all in for Civil Rights by the 1970s. Now, Nixon did crush your boy McGovern in 1972 - but he won everywhere - Illinois, Massachussetts, Vermont - everyfrickingwhere. If all the "racists" went Republican, why did they flop back and vote for Jimmuh? At least in 1976.

So - your facts are, frankly, bullshite.

you're an idiot if you think the southern wing of the democratic party didn't break away. Look at the fact that George Wallace (hardcore democrat in the middle 20th century) ran as an independent when he couldn't get the Democrat nomination due to rational democrats in the north...and carried the south.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

let me put muh thinkin cap on for a secund

no you said 95% of us. just pointing out that, as the first person to respond, i'm in that extreme minority. but i'm sure you didn't pull that number out of your arse

yes. the south voting for the guy who was too racist for democrats nationally totally proves your point.

With Democrat votes.

Not Republican votes.

Again, you want to paint these Southerners as racists by pointing out they voted for Nixon in 1972 and Reagan in 1980 - but they voted for Carter in 1976 and, at least partially, for Clinton in 1992 - Clinton carried 4 Confederate states - twice - over a decade after Reagan.

SO - bullshite, again.

Glossing over the fact the vote was split 3 ways undermines yours.

Myself and the people I know who voted for Trump spend very little energy thinking about the plight of African Americans. I and many others believe that values, more than skin color, determine ones destiny. Many African Americans have accepted the practice of hard work and personal growth as a means to succeed. This is not 100% every time for every one. Many fail, regardless of race or sex or any other qualifier.

This country has spent large amounts its blood and treasure because of slavery. I know for a fact taking down statues is not the silver bullet for ending this discourse.

An Ashanti (yes African) Proverb says, "the ruin of a nation begins at home". Maybe we should put efforts into family preservation. Seems that familial structure and support has been an integral part of every ethnic group that has raised its self out of the slums of the US
