I'm not trying to start a board war here.

But I'm watching On the Record right now and she is interviewing him on the phone. The things that he is describing are disgusting.

How in the hell is this happening? He is being treated like a Vietnam POW. I am infuriated. Are we just going to leave him there?

A man that fought for our country has been stripped, beaten, and chained to a bed post....among other things. And before anyone says if he weren't a Marine no one would care, bullshite. Obama traded a deserter for 5 terrorists, yet he is just going to let this guy rot in jail?

If anyone has any justification for this, please explain. I'm sure there has to be a legit reason that Obama is letting this happen. And yes, he is the President of the US. He is letting this happen.

Mexico can suck really bad. It is routinely more violent than anywhere in the middle east. They racked up 100,000 murders and executions from 2006-2011 which in on par with that was going on in Iraq. I too am intrigued by the plight of this Marine.

Mexico is terrible. We just don't hear about it as much. The media picks what we hear. I'm glad that Gretta isn't letting this one go.

Her interviewing his mother just broke my heart.

What happened? What did he do? Is he a victim of crime? Or did he get trouble? If you are in the service and in another country you have to be on your best behavior.

First this situation has no relation and is not analogous to the bergdal situation. Secondly, there have been diplo talks, however, he broke the laws of Mexico while in Mexico. There's only so much the gov can do. What do you propose the gov do over and above what they've done?

He accidentally crossed the border.

He had 3 registered guns, along with the rest of his belongings, in the trunk of his car. He was honest. Told him that it was a mistake. They wouldn't let him go.

He isn't on service in another country. Marines are on TV begging Obama to help. He has 2 head injuries from serving in Afghanistan. He is already suffering from PTSD. Imagine how fricked up he will be now.

shite, even Hillary is on here now saying that we should go get him. Phone calls of course.

Hey if he broke the law in Mexico then he's on his own. Being a Marine or American doesn't give you carte blanche to do what you want in Mexico. He broke their laws and he has to deal with the consequences.

What has the government done?

Even Hillary just said that we haven't done a damn thing. Even she would have "picked up the phone".

From what I am seeing now, he accidentally crossed the border. They just showed where. I don't think he could turn around. It's not like he was deep in Mexico. He was right at the border. A Mexican official is on here now saying that even he believes that it was an accident.

It's a good thing that we don't treat people crossing the border illegally from Mexico into the US this way.

Well then they should in the least not physically abuse him. Let him go through their criminal justice process since that is important politically in Mexico. But the USA should register strong diplomatic protest if his human rights are violated.

That's what my problem is.

They stripped him naked, chained him to a bed post standing for days, broke his jaw, and threw him in general population where he was beaten more. He is being tortured.

Eta: I left out that his jaw was broken when he was hit with a baseball bat.

bullshite, this has went on long enough. Call the Mexican President and tell them they have 24 hours to have him dressed, feed and cleaned up and brought to the border. Failure to do so and we will physically extract him with as much power as necessary.

Terrible. Mexico is a cesspool in many ways. You would figure some Mexican attorney sees some dollar signs and takes up his cause and case. This is where Amnesty International should weigh in.

The marines on TV just said

"President Obama, we had your back when you needed us to. Now you should have ours"

There is no excuse for this. These men were overseas fighting while our POS president was playing golf, entertaining celebrities, etc. they're begging for his help. There are thousands if signatures on a petition, yet nothing is being done.

It don't work that way and if we did do that then the thousands of Americans in Mexican jails would be in grave danger.

You just can't do that since our relationship with Mexico is more important than him. That's the way the world works. Even Bush or Romney would never do that since they have friends who make too much money dealing with Mexico and any diplomatic trouble means less money making.

There is a Mexican atty fighting for him. He got him moved to a better prison. He can at least use the phone.

The fact that so many are unaware of this is disturbing. I guess Hobby Lobby is more important to the media right now.

Nothing will be done since there's too much money at stake to disrupt our relationship with Mexico. People like him are pawns in the world.
