Bill Maher called out Democrats a few weeks ago on this issue. There's not a single prominent Democrat in America - Michael Bloomberg is a Republican/Independent - who would ever take Piers Morgan's hard-line position on guns. As Maher pointed out, in the U.S., gun control means reducing the number of models of available guns from 3000 to 2800. Furthermore, Democratic political candidates, without any interference from the DNC, debate the gun issue by trying to prove that they're more pro-gun than their Republican opponents, and Wendy Davis and Alison Lundergan-Grimes are perfect examples of this mindset.

Don't be surprised if you see a commercial with Mary Landrieu walking around in camouflage with a shotgun in her hands in the not-too-distant future. Now that Democrats have raised the white flag, shouldn't they go ahead and sue the Republicans for peace so that we don't have to deal with this issue again?

By the way, check out Piers Morgan's farewell address on his final show before he heads back across the pond:

Next mass shooting I will bump this thread with the overreactions from democrats about how we need gun control

Maybe the red state democrats have surrendered, but the blue state dems won't.

They haven't surrendered, its an election year. Not a peep until the polls have closed but if by some chance they made gains all the talk would be about a gun control mandate.

I really don't like that dude, but his farewell address was not bad. I disagree with him on his gun position, but bully for him for not backing down.

Farewell, Piers Morgan. I can't say that I'll miss you, but I do wish you happiness back in England. May you desire to never leave it again.

Yes, Piers. We bullied our politicians into doing what we wanted them to do. Horror!

I don't think you know what they're "scared of".

They consider it a type of insurance, and to a lesser degree a deterent.

The fact that americans of all stripes and colors love their guns should be quite obvious over the fact that two districts in Colorado that went heavily Obama in 2012 actually recalled their state senators over the radical gun control views.

It's a lose lose for democrats. I don't know why they keep trying it.

I will say one thing, if gun control wasn't going to happen after Sandy Hook its dead for at least a generation

Perfect storm. Democrats coming off big 2012 election win, Republicans left soul searching and willing to do anything to right the ship(amnesty, gun control, minority pandering) and the shooting happened right after that, nearly 2 years away from the next elections. Can't ask for a better climate for gun control.

This is why the left knows that the only way to get gun control is through the public school system. Indoctrinate kids and make them so afraid of even the concept of a gun, and terrified of guns. Brainwash them with propaganda about how bad guns are and how its not really a right. And when they become voting age the fear mongering pays off and the new generation is willing to back gun control

But if so many Americans oppose gun control, aren't the kids being exposed to different information at home?

You sure? From 2 weeks ago...

Dianne Feinstein pushes for semi-automatic rifle import ban based on 45-year-old law

quote:

California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein is circulating a letter on Capitol Hill calling once again for a ban on semi-automatic rifles and asking for President Barack Obama to keep his State of the Union promise to make 2014 a “year of action.”

Citing the Gun Control Act of 1968, Feinstein states, “In recent years… importers of firearms have taken advantage of ATF’s interpretation of the ‘sporting purposes’ test to evade the import ban.”

The phrase contained in The Gun Control Act of 1968 Feinstein is referencing prohibits the importation of firearms that are not “generally recognized as particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes.” She claims that in recent years firearms importers have taken advantage of ATF’s interpretation of “sporting purposes” to circumvent the ban.

Scared isn't the correct term here. Those that have ammo now will always have ammo. This is an investment both financially and mentally. Millions of people owning numerous guns with thousands of rounds of ammo creates the largest military on earth.

The same reason Charlie Brown keeps believing that Lucy will let him kick the football. By the way, I'm surprised that Todd Akin and Richard Mourdoch didn't cause Republicans to raise the white flag of surrender on abortion.

One thing I give Maher credit for is being honest enough to admit on his show on several occasions, that he's a liberal gun control hypocrite, meaning that he has guns that he has no intention of ever giving up because of his fear of other folks with guns. However he does try to distinguish himself from Republicans by proclaiming that unlike them, he's not proud of his guns, he's ashamed of them.

Doesn't take much "indoctrination" when the schools themselves are being attacked, and the kids are witness.
