I don't think we are seeing the same thing.
I personally KNOW that war is forever perpetual and profitable. There is no way terrorism will ever be won, or even desired to be won. It is 'chew-stuff' for the sleeping masses to eat on believing they are "winning" something attainable.
Terrorism was spoken of years, years ago by Von Brahn when he said that "after the soviets there will be terrorism". Shite he should know how it works having been a head man in the Nazi regime.
The main goal and only goal is Saudi Arabia and Israel alliance in fighting Syria and Iran.. Lebanon is obviously another target. There is no desire to end the proxy armies that fight against these regimes in those nations and never will they destroy ISIS or any other rogue element fully. It is a ruse.
The only 'terror' they wish to rid themselves of are the biggest dangers to their luxurious lifestyles and that isn't ISIS or any other terrorist group: it is Iran, Syria, lebanaon, Russia, etc... that is their existential threat.
Terrorism is here to stay, forever. The sooner we all except this reality the faster we can move on.
