quote:

In the interview with CNN, the vice president said he had told Obama over one of their regular private lunches that if his son Beau were forced to step down his position as Delaware's attorney general and lose his income because of the brain cancer that ultimately killed him, the vice president and his wife Jill would have to sell their home to pay for Beau's medical expenses. He said Obama told him not to do that. "He said ‘I’ll give you the money. Whatever you need, I’ll give you the money. Don’t, Joe. Promise me. Promise me,'” Biden told CNN.

That was magnanimous of the President.

And the lack of Joe's financial resources, given his tenure in the Senate, tells me he's either a legitimately good dude or incredibly stupid, I'm just not sure which.

Quite kind and humane. That money, if given, should be traced, however.

Will his mother-in-law contribute with her 200K annual pension for taking care of her granddaugthers?

Right. I'm sure he has no avenues for coverage anywhere.

You can say whatever you want about his policies but the man is a damn good human being. He will be missed.

I do believe this was fake.

Did y'all say the same thing about Jimmy Carter, too?

Obviously wasn't on the take which is good.

But he had a six figure job for a long time. Probably not that great with money. He should have been able to build a better nest egg just from legit sources and safe investments.

Assumed it was a joke. I chuckled either way.

I don't care for many of Obama's policies, but that right there is a beautiful story of true friendship.

Cancer is expensive. Treatment can dip into even wealthy people's pockets.

Probably private money. O had those book deals. He also sold his Chicago house for $8 million (likely a legitimate price, as being a presidential house adds a lot to the value). Can also borrow against future speaking fees.
