If he gets rid of the debt ceiling, I'll be incredibly pleased. He's made up overtures and statements, and I think he's likely to push for it.

Would greatly increase our congresses ability to get things done without an artificial weight over their heads.

I agree, the debt ceiling is one the dumbest thing when you think about it. But, I say go back to Gephardt Rule where if you pass a budget then there is no debt ceiling vote. The Freedom Caucus won't have anything to bitch about and that's why they will fight to keep that vote.

Why even have it?

It gets raised every time they overspend.

Why not just get rid of having a budget too while we are at it ... heck, congress hasn't passed one in quite a while so why bother? Just spend baby! Pay the minimum and live in the moment. After all, "it ain't my money" ...

IIRC, the debt ceiling thing started in 1917.

Most ProgsDims have no clue what money is or what it should represent. Here's a hint, money should not represent debt.

Yeah...if they'd pass a budget that has pre-set spending limits...and have rules not to exceed that...I'd say that would be a FANTASTIC idea...especially since our government isn't in the business of making money...the only money they have is from taxes and tariffs. And with more people/entities on the government take...it'll soon be harder for the government to meet a budget.
