Why do liberals hate capitalism so much and seek to destroy it?
quote:

Portland, Ore., city council passed a law Wednesday that will charge businesses a higher tax rate if their chief executive officer gets paid more than 100 times what the average worker at the company does.

Normally, businesses in the city pay a tax of 2.2 per cent of their net income to city hall. But the new law will slap a higher rate on any publicly traded companies in the city if their executive compensation is wildly out of line with what workers at the company earn.

Well, if it's too high it will be fun to watch them bitch when the company moves.

Is this all businesses or just once based in the city?

Not only could punitive nonsense like this keep Portland 'weird'....it could keep it playing catch up to Seattle forever.

Great. Now we'll have more businesses moving to Nashville and I'll be even busier. Liberal policies are killing my golf game.

Portland moves to invite major corporations to leave their area.

That's what the headline should read.

Did you just ask a board full of tariff supporters this question?

Ah Portland. Not a single one of the SWPLs who live there would live there if it had the demographics of Detroit or Jackson.

Like with all policies like this there will be special carve outs. Just like companies like Apple, Google and Goybook are able to escape the harsh business climate in the Bay Area.

Even then, Lake Oswego, Tigard and Beaverton about to have interested companies looking around.

It's a talking point to acknowledge the incredible amount of cognitive dissonance you have to possess to be both in support of tariffs and restrictions to trade, and also critical of anyone who seeks to place restrictions on capitalistic enterprise?

It's the great thing about state and local control; we can see what policies work and don't work and people and companies have options to move to places that fit their views and needs.

On the other hand, when the federal government institutes something, we lose that option, unless we decide to move out of the country.
