Clarification (my apologies this was NOT the way it was reported on the air, but the news is breaking fast so I will give Mika B. a break) - would pertain only to men already married, not those already priests (I thought that was allowed already? I don't know I am not Catholic)?

Just curious. Are the posters saying they think priests should be able to marry practicing Catholics?

I am a practicing Catholic and I have said for some time that Priests should be able to marry. For me, it is a view of practicality. The priesthood is becoming older and less young people are signing up to be celebrate priests. The result is a shortage of priests in parishes and an influx of foreigners into the priesthood. There was no restriction to priest marriages for the first 1000 years of the church, so it is not like this is not precedented.
