I mean when you visit a place as a tourist where something terrible is known to have happened....you just feel solemn about it.
When I was in Gettysburg, I was quite awed by the stories I heard from the rangers, all the many memorials, the names of the dead etc.
They very ground there had been soaked with the blood of suffering and dying men.
The same is true of these plantations grounds. So why not use that location to memorialize those people instead of just going on and on about the furniture, curtains, architecture etc? Its seems very creepy to me.
