re: Piers Morgan gets owned...again!

There's no point in reasoning with these people. Anyone who tries to restrict 2nd Amendment freedoms is your enemy.

Yeah,plenty.
Then you should know that those "assault" rifles are commonly used to harvest hogs.

ETA: Which is really beside the point, as the 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting anyways. The topic of hunting is just a distraction.

Apparently not all the time.

There are still older hunters that use old brush guns like .30-30s, but they are quickly becoming the go-to rifle for hogs, especially among younger hunters.

This sounds like the group of fellas I know, also a few bow hunters in there.

The modularity of AR-type rifles, along with their ability to be customized in just about every way possible, really makes them a very attractive option for younger hunters.

it seems like he is owning pro gun advocates most of the time. it's hard to argue with someone from England since gun control has been effective there.
How do you know that it was effective? What are you comparing it to?

My questions are thus:

How long have "assault rifles" been available to the public?

Aren't there more incidents of violence with basically every other type of firearm, per capita of the number of "assault rifles" in private hands?

In fact isn't the percent of incidents with these "assault rifles" almost statistically insignificant?

Using the answers to the above: Why is there even a discussion on "assault rifles"?

Since 1963, so 50 years.

Yes

Because other weapons aren't as "scary" or able to be used for political gain.

Assault rifle really is a poor and inaccurate term.

The anti-gun morons will never understand that while the AR-15 CARBINES, look scary, they are not assault rifles, they are just a cooler looking hunting rifle. As mentioned before, the appeal is all the customs you can add to them. Most law abiding Americans have to go through numerous classes and red tape to be able to buy an actual assault rifle. Honestly, a slug fired from a semi-auto shotgun does more damage than the AR-15 .223
