Did you miss where the small amount ICE rounded up were ones with criminal records?
Pretty simple answer to your gotcha you cooked up. Obama was weak because he didn't secure the border. You can throw as many as you want out but it makes no difference if the border is wide open.

There has been a labor shortage for a few years now. It is going to get really bad if there are mass deportations.
Give them work visas and have them start paying taxes and it will fix multiple problems.

Probably had something to do with how it was carried out. As I understand it, the bulk of deportations under Obama were those caught at the border and sent back. It was a math trick to make him look tougher on immigration than he actually was.
I also don't think he conducted such wide sweeping ICE raids. Maybe he did though and it just didn't get reported.

It's all about perception. The media never reported how many people Obama was deporting. The right was also claiming that Obama wasn't deporting anyone.
If the right had supported Obama's deportation policy then there would've been a different perception and he would have caught crap from the left.

Welfare reform can help with that labor shortage. If some of the lazy folks in this country suddenly have to choose between working and starving, their interest in working will likely increase.
