I don't get how anyone thinks government run anything is efficient.
I don't think efficiency is on the minds of a lot of progressives. There's this young kid in one of my classes. He's a pseudo-intellectual. He tried to tell me that Clint Eastwood was a better actor than a director. O_o. Anyway, we were discussing how the US Postal service is hemorrhaging money, and how it might be a good idea to just let private service handled mail delivery. This guy was like "Oh, I just don't trust them to do that." He gave no reason why he didn't trust private business to deliver mail. He was just scared.
And this is what we're up against. This guy is smarter than the average person, and he's still a dumbass. To him there's something inherently noble and trustworthy about government monopolies that don't have to worry about budget constraints.
