Is that it's public. As in just anyone can and does walk on. They might even attack and rob you.

No thanks, I'll stick to having my own vehicle.

BART takeover robbery: 40 to 60 teens swarm train, rob weekend riders

A recent string of robberies on BART trains took a frightening turn when dozens of juveniles swarmed an Oakland station over the weekend and commandeered a train car, forcing passengers to hand over bags and cell phones and leaving at least two with head injuries, witnesses told the transit agency.

If only it were that simple. You can stay home but public transportation will bring the undesirables to where you live.

They should just do away with it. A dangerous waste of tax dollars.

With the exception of incidents like this, public transportation (when it's kept up) is awesome. I would really love to get a train system in America like they do in France and Japan.

Yeah Islam on trains, what could go wrong. And in Japan they have a problem with women being groped and sexually assaulted on those trains.

Nothing is ever going to be perfect. Still would be awesome to be able to take a train to other major cities. Especially the bullet trains.

ETA: Islam is another issue altogether, and you can prevent assault by hiring security.

Are you trying to make an argument that many major cities that rely on trains and subways to move people around because the roads couldn't handle the traffic would actually be better off without it?
You think NYC would be better off without the subway system?

And in your vehicle, anybody can swerve into the wrong lane and kill you. Public transportation is comparable to driving your own car in terms of safety. By your logic, I'm assuming you don't fly, right, unless it's a private jet?

Maybe they should have planned their city better? Or people should just move out if its that crowded.

No, not comparable. In my own vehicle I'm in control and there aren't other people, strangers getting in and riding with me.

And yeah I try and stay out of the air and would only fly private jet if I had the option.

Or maybe subways are a good idea.
