NYT editor said on CNN that there were lower level people in the room as well. Of course, he could just be trying to protect his source and made that part up.

I assume that someone recorded the conversation (which is common) and then sent it to CIA/NSA where some analyst determined that classified info was leaked. This guy then leaked to the press. In other words, Obama holdovers in the IC.

If they really were worried about classified material, then leaking it to the press is the WORST thing to do. Take it to your superiors or take it to the Congressional oversight committee. Anything. The mere fact they leaked it means they don't give a shite about classified material, they only care about politics.

This could have been handled internally without risking the information getting out there more than it already had.

This isn't hard to figure out

When classified material is discussed without prior notice, by law the NSC must contact the originating agency to notify them. Thus the CIA and the NSA were both notified.

Someone within one of those two agencies then leaked to the press.

It wouldn't be that difficult to figure out who it was.

I wonder why people are not getting yet again... that the rogue IC leaking to WaPo is a felony.
