Whitehouse is being utterly disrespectful. This feels more like an overdramatic movie than a nomination hearing.

Expect a party line vote now. They won't be reasonable.

A president who is under FBI investigation should not be able to appoint a Supreme Court Judge.

What do they have to do with each other?

Also, as far as I'm aware, it's his campaign that's being investigated, not Trump himself (definitely not a Trump cultist, as every poster on here can tell you).

Under that same theory a person under criminal investigation by the FBI should not be able to run for President...

What's political and what's not is very gray. And money=speech and speech can't be limited may be both a political and constitutional question.

Buckley and Citizens are controversial and absolutely affect politics. Gorsuch says that if congress wants a law about disclosure then make a law. But if the Supreme Court voids that law, what's the point?

I'm not saying I agree or disagree with gorsuch, I think he's humble and intelligent. But whitehouse isn't being an a-hole (I admit it's a bit too abrasive in tone)talking nonsense- campaign finance with hard, soft and dark money is a very troubling, complex and more than anything important issue.

i think it's safe to say that the leader of the campaign was Trump, there's no way he's not being investigated as well.

Just because Whitehouse is talking about an "important issue" doesn't mean he's not trying to corner Gorsuch into prejudgement...ergo: yes, Whithehouse is being an a-hole.

I find it difficult to believe that most people don't want more government transparency and less control by shady monied special interests.

My liberal friends are starting to show a tremendous discomfort in the way this opposition is going. It's their position that, while they may not love Gorsuch, he's undeniably qualified, so this opposition simply erodes their future political capital.

Have to disagree. He has interrupted Gorsuch more than every other questioner combined by a wide margin. He is grandstanding and completely ignored Gorsuch's point that sometimes there is a right and a point to anonymous giving (and NCAAP case). He will not stop harping on the same thing and even questioned Gorsuch's competence at one point.

Guy is being a complete jerk. Only senator I've felt like that about yet.

Yes he is. He's implying the only reason Gorsuch was nominated was because of $.

Citizens United is a victory over 'shady monied special interests'. To claim otherwise just shows your ignorance.

Yeah he's trying to corner him, but again there's a gray area between value characterizations and prejudgements. A republican tried cornering him earlier on 2nd amendment cases. It's the dance between nominees and the senators.

Lee and the old man just made hilarious statements.

I hear your point. May be a matter of taste but I think all nominees (judicial, cabinet, etc) should be questioned way more vigorously than they typically are.
