Had this officer used a real gun he would likely be alive today. Yeah, the police are the problem. Sure they are.

"Police said the traffic stop happened at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday in Tecumseh, 35 miles southeast of Oklahoma City. Tecumseh police say the suspect ran away from the officer after the traffic stop and later opened fire after the officer used a stun gun."

Well if you shoot first you don't have to ask questions

He did use a real gun at some point as the suspect had some bullet wounds too.

Need to hear more about the story before I would say that non-lethal force is what cost the officer his life.

RIP

Let's just drone strike everyone that runs from the police. Then no cops have to die ever.

Let's just not pursue anyone that runs from the police. Then nobody has to die, ever.

Police use of force in a developing situation is fluid. He used what he thought was an appropriate force option at that moment. The ineffectiveness of the taser allowed the criminal that split second to shoot the Officer. I know with all of the media regarding Officer involved shootings people believe the Police are reluctant to use deadly force.. and there may be some.. but I would have to hope this Officer did not knowingly bring a Taser to a gunfight. Regardless, prayers to his family and may he RIP.

I don't know anyone who really believes that.

We, as a voting public, should require every patrol car to have 2 cops at all times. I know bad things will still happen, but having 2 decreases the chances of it. All you have to do is consolidate the dozens of different and unnecessary departments. This would give you plenty of beat cops for no extra expense.

How about we have focus on actual crimes instead of speeding fines and the pointless drug war first, then we can talk about putting two guys together in a car.

We as voting people refuse to pay LEO a reasonable wage so that will never happen.

Why should I vote to pay them more? 9/10 cops that I see are revenuers, providing me with a net negative value. If it were up to me, I would abolish them entirely and start over with non government police forces that will actually suffer the consequences of providing crappy service.

The voters don't get to set the wages for public service. That is done by the individual agencies. The government doesn't think we have enough sense to decide what to do with our tax money. They just take it from us and spend as they see fit.

We lose too many young men and women due to ineffective policies that no other governmental organizations have.

Yeah, I see your point. Nothing but a way to make more revenue, which doesn't get spent on making the environment safe for our officers.

PC is out of hand.

for effective deterrent, you have to allow out of the box monsters loose now and then.
not every time or every day, but enough that it is a viral attention grabber.

allow cruel and very unusual punishments.

on tv. feed dudes to the fire ants.

bring in the Koran for anyone named Abdullah or Muhammed. cut off some hands.

et cetera.

That makes no sense. If they were cheaper then you could afford more cops.

In any case, this seems just like a routine stop that went bad. Since the driver was arrested, there may have been more than inetu officer involved.

I'm completely OK with that - if that is the only choice you want to offer.

This should be the goal - not the sacrifice of good policemen and countless future victims of the disgusting criminal element that your ideology has saddled society with.

Gun em down til they quit running.

Let parents teach their children to cooperate with the police.

Yes, there will be police abuse - and it should be treated with a vengeance. But the overall decency and civility of society will rise = making even those rare occurances ever more rare.

Is against the law for a very good reason. I agree that they should leave the pot heads alone though. I don't want them arresting you.

Well, we could also stop blaming police when a felon is shot for attacking them.
