The audit by the Treasury inspector general for tax administration says the IRS needs to do a better job policing the tax. The tax agency, however, doesn't have adequate tools to identify which companies owe it, the audit said

24 percent less than the estimate.

The medical device industry has been lobbying hard to get the tax repealed, and there has been movement in Congress. Both the House and the Senate have passed separate pieces of legislation calling for the tax to be repealed

But while a majority of Congress is on record supporting repeal, there is no consensus on how to make up the lost revenue without adding to the budget deficit.

This was a direct cause of some people losing their jobs at the company my wife used to work at. I do hope it gets repealed, but it's already done a lot of damage.

I think that companies aren't paying is amusing.

No doubt because manufacturers are adjusting. Static assumptions are static.

People are so dumb.

Medical devices are usually implanted to prevent sudden death (defibrillators/pacemakers). A tax on such device will hurt the people more than the companies.

At some point there will have to be an honest discussion about what people are willing to pay to take care of their health... or not. The bottom line is we cannot spend unlimited resources on everyone- hence the "imperative need for more tax dollars".

But carry on your hate against corporations- the end result is stuff like the ACA- PEOPLE GETTING frickED EQUALLY. Welcome to fairness bitches. Enjoy! Carry on...
