Nunes regrets briefing Trump

quote:

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) said Thursday that he regrets informing President Trump of surveillance affecting the president’s transition team before he updated his panel.

“It’s a judgement call on my part,” he told reporters when asked why he spoke with Trump and the media before House Intelligence Committee Democrats.

“At the end of the day, sometimes you make the right decision, sometimes you don’t,” Nunes added, noting he could not show the panel information that was given to him by a source.

Maybe so, but doesn't change the facts of the matter.

Oh, and Russians!

wtf? let's hope he didn't show trumps something that he can show his panel. that would be BAD news for trump, nunes and america.

I must be missing the reason why people are pissed that Trump has this information. Is it that they think Trump then had the opportunity to alter the data before it was disseminated to the panel? Weren't other members invited?

He would have probably committed suicide before he made it to the WH if he had told democrats first.

'member when clinton met with lynch on the tarmac in arizona. Was it proper then for the AG to talk with the husband of an investigation? This isn't exactly the same, since it was briefing the subject of the investigation. But you know, the right got pretty upset about that little briefing.

FTR, I actually didn't think it was that big of a deal then, and I am inclined to suggest this might not be terrible here (although if he showed somethign to trump that he didn't show his panel, then its very bad). But the rank hypocrisy on the right is astounding.

Yeah...he regrets it because the hoard of deluded, glassy-eyed liberal nut cases are making life hellish for no reason.

Did he say that the information he gave was false or inaccurate?

Apparently the Prez. shouldn't know anything until it is on TV.

Are you serious?

Let's say he was leaked information that shows a connection between trump and the russians. And he showed it to trump and then didn't show it to the investigation panel. Trump would have insight about what evidence there is, where nominally the investigators don't have that same evidence.

He will be apologizing profusely tomorrow with another presser with more info. and has already apologized to members of his panel.

I think he will bring further info. to the committee tomorrow; and offer Schiff to accompany him to the presser. Something tells me Schiff will refuse to go as he did yesterday. So Schiff was briefed just not the panel.

You think it's a good idea to give new information related to an investigation to the person being investigated before it's given to the other people on the panel? This is extremely similar to the tarmac meeting between Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch. Horrible judgment by Nunes.

Well, that's an understatement.

What do we know about the information Nunes has? He's not leading an investigation into Trump and his activities. Didn't trump himself ask for this?

This meeting and its content was announced ahead of time. The Clinton/Lynch meeting had to be scooped, and only then did they give the bullshite answer.

Maybe Nunes should have said they talked about golf and grabbing pussy. Then you would be cool with it, huh?

That exactly what the quote I provided in the OP says. How is it out of context?

I guess you meant "can't" show his panel. And you really meant "can but didn't."
