Winter Olympics are worthless as far as I'm concerned.
All real sports are Summer events.
Edit: Obviously my event was a Summer Olympics event

sorry for your shafting... but I enjoy both Summer and Winter Games

Yes, they both have excellent events....and some that can hardly be considered sports. Curling anyone? Or 'rythmic' gymnastics?

I prefer to stay anonymous when discussing politics on the net.

If I told you the event then I would definitely be identified.

But yes, I was mad as hell. Mad enough that I joined the military and never competed again.

Fair enough! Hmmm, joined military! That would make my guess: one of the shooting events. Shame, maybe you can teach some of the younger ones your sport and pass it on? Always a good move.

I like the multi-sports, like Bruce Jenner, wasn't his:
- shooting from a moving horse
- 200m hurdles
- half-pipe snowboarding

I have 5 children, and have reared a niece and nephew for most of their lives.

None of them ever showed interest in learning or participating in what dad was good at.

I don't fault them at all. Everyone is different, and they are all exceptional human beings in their own way.

I have given technique pointers and advice to other athletes in my event over the years that have been local to me. Some have done quite well but none have risen to national or world prominence.

Honestly, it is a different world today than it was back then. Back when I competed it was about the sport, amateurism, and national pride.

Since frickhead Carter introduced politics in to what was supposed to be apolitical(although we that competed in those days always wanted our nation to be the best), the Olympics have lost their luster.
Now that Professionals can compete it has become even worse.

Edit: My hating professionals in the Olympics relates to myself and my family being poor. We weren't millionaires like the professionals who get to join the teams today. I had to spend every waking hour honing my skills with little to no outside support. Of course once I made the team, I didn't have to pay for quality coaching and training but my family still had to foot many of the expenses otherwise.

Then at the top of my craft Carter fricked me.

You are assuming I wasn't getting it from the swimmers and Gymnastic teams.

The gymnasts weren't all all 12 and 13 back then.
Average age was around 20.

BTW. my favorite Gymnast saying was that triple twisting dismount was awesome

What's to stop you from fricking a hot Russian gymnast regardless of your sport? You're in peak physical condition. You would be able to frick any and everyone there.

I'd be ok with a boycott if this were to happen.

You message board warriors kill me.

I'm 55, fat and out of shape, with 3 herniated discs, but I would give you 10 to 1 odds that I'd still kick your dumb arse at any sporting event from the summer olympics.
