I was there for Katrina/Blanco and Nagin, not so much for Landrieu.

Who is worse?

Landrieu.

What do you mean "reached the levels of incompetence'???? He started out at that level and has exponentially sunk lower!!!

He is a pandering frick stick who's level of incompetence becomes more apparent as he is examined. This a-hole had money to remove statues that did NOT MATTER one way or the other....but did not have enough money to maintain pumps that prevent flooding in the city.....INCOMPETANCE YOU SAY???

I think he's better than Nagin, but he's made a few critical mistakes - freezing NOPD hiring and now the S&WB mess.

He is way worse than Nagin. Nagin checked out after Katrina. Mitch doesn't have the Katrina excuse.

I'm on the Northshore but I would say the city under Landrieu is much worse than Nagin. Before Katrina, Nagin wasn't doing too terrible a job. And I'm a conservative republican.

From what I read, it appears ML is governing for brownie points and not the majority of the city for subsequent political prowess.

Nagin was far superior, best black mayor the city ever had. He didn't have a personal agenda or a political machine that cost the city. His corruption was marginal and he was caught because he didn't have guys to cover for him because he had no political friends. Landrieu has been a disaster with his cronyism and self-aggrandizement, the city is much more unlivable for functional people than ever before. Landrieu is an incompetent arrogant arse.

Mitch is not incompetent. He's just an overly ambitious, scheming, lying, pandering motherfricker. He could actually get some shite done if he gave enough of a shite about the City to put his political self-interests aside and point his political machine in the right direction, and that, IMO, makes him far worse than Nagin and Blanco (who were themselves complete turds).

Hell, he scraped together $2 million, including civil and private funds, and coordinated with private construction crews, police and fire to remove some statues within a matter of weeks. That kind of go-getting attitude applied to something worthwhile could be quite effective.

Landrieu has brought the city to a new low.

Born and raised in Nola, my career took me to Lafayette area. Before Katrina, as has been stated, Nagin wasn't doing a bad job. It's after Katrina that he kind of lost his way. Landrieu, on the other hand, has been incompetent from the start. As the mayor of a city that is, quite literally, below sea level, one of your first priorities SHOULD be the SWB. He's chosen to try and take on social justice programs using up an already limited budget on issues that do not affect the safety and security of it's citizens. It's extremely sad to watch.

I love New Orleans, but I will never live there again as long as this string of Democratic mayors continues.

Nagin was/is far from incompetent. He was as corrupt as the best of them.

Mitch has surpassed Blancos incomplence and is more along the Morial corruption level.

Jesuit will one day create a mayor worth bragging about...

That wont keep the voters from electing them. As much as I dislike the Morials and Landrieus, they did go to a fine school. AMDG

Broome and Landrieu both have.

The inability for New Orleans government to keep the pumps (that have been there for a century) running is astounding.

Difficult question to answer because you left out corruption with incompetence.

For example, Nagin was more competent in governing than the other two, but he was less competent in his corruption and got caught. His management did not result in human deaths and massive property damage!

Blankstare was more competent in her corruption since while everyone knows she mismanaged the recovery money to favor herself and allies over the people. But, she was not charged.

On the other hand Mitch the Bitch hasn't really been accused of serious political corruption, but everyone knows public tax dollars are being stolen at the normal prodigious rates of Orleans Parish. So he is the most competent at corruption. But he is the most incompetent at actually governing.

Blankstare's Katrina delays probably killed dozens of her citizens, but the Mitch the Bitch's crime incompetence has killed hundreds. Kathy's Katrina Coma probably didn't result in an increase of property damage since the flooding achieved its maximum quickly. The recent flooding and reduced pumping capacity is directly attributed to Larcenous Landrieu. Theft, kickbacks, and mismanagement prevented the repair of New Orleans' dilapidated infrastructure. Could that electrical fire have been prevented if the statue removal money been directed there by a competent mayor? You bet your sweet arse!

He's done some damage to his image. He would probably only get elected by 62% of the vote if the election was tomorrow. I fully anticipate the Landrieu family rolling out the next generation to run in the next mayorial election and the people of NOLA voting for them again. It's really true. You can't fix stupid.

Mitch, so far as we can tell, is not a crook, while Nagin evidently was. However, Nagin had a much more benign sort of incompetence. He generally did nothing, leaving it up to others - including private citizens - to act after Katrina. While this cost NOLA the possibility of an overarching recovery plan, it also didn't run the risk of a disastrous plan. So, I would say they're about equal as Nagin was more crooked but less harmfully effective.
