NFL team's gamble that is failing miserably

I don't keep up with the NFL, so I didn't realize how poor the attendance is for the newly relocated Los Angeles Chargers. The San Diego tax payers refused to be held hostage into funding a new stadium so the Chargers left town. Now they are struggling to fill a 27,000 seat soccer stadium in Los Angeles. They are typically out numbered by fans from the opposing teams. They've also covered some of the seats with tarps.

The NFL was pretty perfectly geographically dispersed.

It's good to see the idea that they can hold current cities hostage with the threat of moving be dispelled.

It was extremely predictable, but some owners just can't resist the pull of LA. 2 teams, with 1 being really good, and no one cares about either.

USC draws a full house in the same stadium.

I was working in SD a few years back and was staying fairly close to the stadium. The place was packed for a preseason game.

Once again, we see that LA just isn't an NFL city that will support one team much less two.

Change their name to "Bolts" and move to Birmingham. Problem solved.

(I don't really give a shite. I'm just looking for an excuse to whip out my old XFL Birmingham Bolts t-shirt.)

The NFL was doing fine until it got a bad case of Colin Cancer.

The NFL has already had 2 teams fail in LA. It never made any sense, then to move 2 teams back there at the same time.

The chargers dont play in that stadium. They literally play in a small soccer stadium.

They can, people just don't really give a frick about the chargers. People would lose their fricking minds and cave to whatever demand the Pats, Packers, Steelers, Eagles would make.

It sucks because the Chargers had great fans in SD. My family there were all season ticket holders

Pretty much anyone familiar with the situation knew the Chargers were heading uphill with that move.

They don’t really have a fan base in LA, they aren’t winning, and the marketplace is flooded since the Rams had returned to LA the year before.

My point is, for them to go where?

There are 2 teams in LA. The Rams are playing in the Coliseum, where USC plays. Their attendance is as bad as the chargers.

Meh. Let’s see how it shakes out. LA was one of the few major metros (and 2nd largest city in the country, no less) without a team. They’ll probably come around.

I doubt their gamble is failing miserably. They will get everything back once they move into new stadium and the costs they have renting StubHub, is minimal and they save money not playing in Pasadena, Jack Murphy, and other places.

They are controlling ticket prices, but whatever.

Then why do you care about their attendance? Why does the fact that people aren't showing up to something that you never cared about in the first place give you pleasure?

We'll be saying this in 2037 when the Chargers come back to LA again.

NFL team ? If I want to enjoy blatantly racist anti-white histrionics, I'll just watch CNN or register as a Democrat like everybody else.
