A reading of the rule on Monday Night Football revealed a small change to the language of the policy, opening the door for teams to punish protesting players.

The new language didn't appear on the internet until the last two weeks

Teams can now be docked multiple draft picks if players kneel during the anthem

The new version of the policy removed language saying that punishment would come from the league office, giving teams the ability to punish players directly

NFL policy continues to state that players 'should' stand for the national anthem but stops short of saying they 'must' do so

NFL chief spokesman Joe Lockhart said owners plan to meet next week to discuss unilateral rule changes to the national anthem policy

I guess we'll see how the players respond. Without the players there is no product either... Tough spot for NFL and the team execs

The NFLPA may raise hell but they won’t strike over this.

The most that happens is that this goes to court with the PA claiming it is a violation of the CBA to punish players over it.

Well except wording of rules, sponsorship reduction, fans disapproval of the NFL and Colin Kapernicks job status.

If the two most vocal teams on this subject strike, would anyone notice a difference?

Both teams are 0-5.

Oh man, I hope they strike. So many contracts would be voided and allow the owners to reset the salaries.

I enjoy high school and college football most of all. If the NFL talent is reduced by a strike, the games will still be enjoyable.

I'm guessing there won't be as many players down with the cause once there is a real price to pay for kneeling.
