I will say there's some damn fine white water in the vicinity.

Ever been on the Chattooga? It's right in the tri-state area, but in the town of Longcreek, SC. Best whitewater in the South, and there's a little joint that serves the best goddamn smoked chicken I've ever had. Plus, the old gas station sells dry snuff and plug tobacco.

Actually the Duke Energy bill doubling to pay for their BS and this water problem I blame on our new D governor. He is retarded he wants to make NC broke again and pay for artsy fartsy crap before common sense things.

You have an excellent point. If you study the fine print of bottled water it says it is tap city water.
I believe that was only a few brands of bottled water like Dasani.

Ozarka bottled water, for example, comes from 3 natural springs in Texas: Roher spring, Moffit spring, and Piney Woods spring.
Interesting... you mean there is really bottled water that comes from springs? I have lived many places and one time my 5 acres was by a ravene and creek where a bottled water company got their water. My crap line sewer pipe went into this creek. So a friend that got this bottled water delvered was told she is drinking my crap.

Just rafted Section IV this past Memorial Day weekend Third time I've run that section.

I've rafted quite a bit, but next up is to get my toes wet kayaking. There's an outfit up in Saluda, NC that does weekend classes on creeking. I go there a bunch anyway with the fiance for the wineries so going to make a weekend of it.

There's a group that teaches classes here in Cola on the Saluda, but I'll be out of town during both sessions.

FWIW that third pic is the gas station. None of the advertised things are in there.

ETA: Centinel, the next time you go, the place is called Brasstown BBQ and is only open on Fridays and Saturdays during the season.

So if this Teflon additive is so dangerous, do we have any proof that it's definitely not contaminating our foods that we cook with their products? Sounds like the whole Rome-lead pipe fiasco all over again. Good think I use my iron skillet most of the time.

I'll have to add that to the list. We're actually going to be in Elkin this weekend for a cellar club private release for Jones Von Drehl Winery.

As for Ohiopyle, never been there but I've heard lots about it.

I forgot about that. Posters here from BR and Louisiana saying they drink water from the tap and it freaked me out.

I've got Duke. I live fairly close to the Asheville plant (about 5 miles) and, like I said, I only use filtered water, except for showers and dishwashing. Dishwasher is ALWAYS set to high heat and dry.

You just need to check the specs on your filter (how many microns it filters for). Find out how many microns this compound is and see if it's small enough to get through the filter. If so, then avoid your tap water.

I used to get some great product from the kids at WCU.
