I posted this so I can read all the butt-hurt responses from rural and suburban Louisianans when I wake up for work.
Excuses work too.

So you are accepting outlier statistics regardless of demographics, now?

Looks like school choice, charter schools and selective admission is working pretty well.

Betsy Devos has a good example to use in the future.

Actually the joke is on the OP who likely thinks that public education in public schools run by governmental boards is doing this....

Wait, so these aren't selective admission schools?

Or are you suggesting that they would be as highly rated if they were not?

I just made an accurate, indisputable observation. So I need some clarification as to your "excuses" comment.

Answer me this, buttercup; how do the NON-selective admissions public schools in NO rank nationally?

I'll hang up and listen.

From your link:

Charter and magnet schools accounted for nine of the top 10 high schools in the U. S.

Charter schools are public schools run by non-governmental boards.

They are supposed to offer innovative teaching methods compared to traditional public schools.

Magnet schools are public classrooms that carry admission requirements.

These are not the best schools. They are a collection of the best students. There is a big difference.

You could put all the students from Ben Franklin at the worst high school in New Orleans and vice versa.

A year from now, the shitty school would be in the top 10 and Ben Franklin would be the worst school in the city.

Except 3 of the 7 are schools in Jefferson Parish not New Orleans.

Cash should follow the child.
Parents and guardians should select from any school that will accept their child, and public education money should be paid directly to the institution. Think GI bill for kids.

Best at what?

I'd be pretty pissed if LSMSA has dropped to 9th in academics.

But ... I'm old....and not involved ... they probably lowered standards in the past 25 years.

Being the best public school in Louisiana is like winning the Special Olympics.
