Is it time we took these investigations out of the hands of congress? How can anyone on either side take the results of any of these investigations seriously when politics is so clearly involved? Imagine if every day criminal investigations of citizens was carried out in the manner we see congressional investigations play out time and time again? A political body has zero ability to impartially investigate anyone. Furthermore, our representatives should be focused on carrying out the work of the people, not playing amateur detective in front of the cameras.

Agreed - all these dog and pony shows do is provide fodder for the MSM to lap up and for lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to demonstrate publicly how partisan they are. When was the last time anything came from a congressional investigation other than conjecture and innuendo?

No. Not at all.

I am not being coy, how was partisanship a factor in today's hearings?

I'm not talking specifically about today. I'm talking about the overall congressional investigative process. Try to name one where both sides actually sat down and legitimately investigated the matter in a non partisan way and reached a conclusion based on facts and wasn't hampered by one side running interference and trying to undermine the entire process. I guarantee you that when this one is finally done, the facts will mean nothing. You will have two competing narratives, repubs will say no evidence was found and Dems will say that the final report can't be trusted because it was written by repubs covering for Trump.

Hey look at the bright side...as long as they're tied up with investigations, they can't pass any more fricked up laws

The more time they waste on hearings, the less time they get to further screw things up.

In a way, it's a good thing.

Who would you like to do investigation or would you like whoever is President to be able to do whatever they want with no oversight?

It's easy to complain about something. It's hard to come up with a better alternative.

maybe some actual investigators and not a bunch of cheap suit politicians. I mean seriously, how are we supposed to take any of this seriously when the director of the FBI tells the investigating congressional committee that he can't or won't answer certain questions. It's a joke and everyone who goes before these committees knows it. It's a giant waste of time because he can use the "it's not our policy to comment on investigations that may or may not be going on" line until hell freezes over.

The country has business to attend to. The 2 party system is keeping that from happening.

Frick them both.

It's even easier to point out that it's difficult to come up with a better solution.

Couldn't agree more. Maybe Trump needs to quit setting them on wild goose chases because he falls for fake news so often.

Amen! It's a circus act and it's wasting time and money. There are real problems to be solved.

Maybe congress should look away from the goose.

The interesting thing about this whole mess is that if nothing ever comes of "muh Russians" will the press make an apology? Will Dems in Congress?

Will they admit that this was a wild goose chase and try to get some work done?

I think I know the answer.

Absolutely. There should be a dedicated special prosecutor's office staffed by career employees with broad, anti-corruption investigative powers over the federal government. This should also be the case at the state level to avoid DAs soft-pedaling police investigations when they rely on police to make their normal cases.

Politics is just like professional wrestling. They are putting on a show while taking the sheeple's money.
