This a statistic showed in this Five Finger Death Punch Video Don't watch if you don't want to listen to heavy metal.

Old arse sorry POS politicians live as long as they can and continue to frick everyone until their sorry old arse dies. Pass the torch to the rest of their POS offspring, and continue procure wealth on the backs of soldiers and citizens.

Conflicting thread for this board, given that people who mistreat veterans and people who commit suicide are two of the things that we hate the most.

You tell me. Look it up. And what does the regular population have to do with military and politicians? This is the politics board.

"As Suicides Rise in U.S., Veterans Are Less of Total"
By JAMES DAO
Published: February 1, 2013

" Suicides among military veterans, though up slightly in recent years, account for a shrinking percentage of the nation’s total number of suicides — a result of steadily rising numbers of suicides in the general population, according to a report released on Friday by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The report, based on the most extensive data the department has ever collected on suicide, found that the number of suicides among veterans reached 22 a day in 2010, the most recent year available.

That was up by 22 percent from 2007, when the daily number was 18. But it is only 10 percent higher than in 1999, according to the report. Department officials described the numbers as “relatively stable” over the decade.

In the same 12-year period, the total number of suicides in the country rose steadily to an estimated 105 a day in 2010, up from 80 in 1999, a 31 percent increase. "

Agreed. For example, this boards reaction to Robin Williams suicide was shameful and disgusting.

Suicide is not a black and white issue as this board makes it out to be.

You would think. But the raw number is very deceiving.

It should be expected that suicides are higher in the military based solely on demographics.

If you sampled the same demographics in the general public that 2:1 ratio wouldn't hold up.

I think y'all missed the point, though. It is terrible that those who defend our country have been so poorly treated, yet these career politicians, who live of them, live long, wealthy lives, it's sickening.

I think 2:1 is considering the rate among vets as a separate population than he rate for the rest of the population.

I would advise any young person not to volunteer for military service for precisely the reasons you outline. And I really feel that information is available for public consumption. IMV volunteering for military duty is like choosing to smoke...you know the likely consequences.
