Only if John Kerry had his yacht docked in Crimea to avoid Massachusetts taxes.

Jokes are not appropriate. These really are acts of war.

Obama's not concerned about regional powers that act out of weakness.

Now if we start talking about taking more of your taxes, listening to your phone calls, reading your email, you might get his attention. He's also concerned about what political activities you engage in too, so try not to advertise, unless of course you'd like to become acquainted with the IRS.

Unless they are Ukrainian posters, I am pretty sure we can joke.

Besides, Russian needs to capture these ships to make sure they aren't used to oppress ethnic Russians in Crimea.

Well there you go, that is the real question. We should take actual steps with actual consequences, like throttling back their export of Oil and Gas. Static transport pipelines are such inviting targets (for terrorists of course).

We blow up their pipelines and then use that action/threat as a way to kill Keystone P/L

I think you are expecting far too much of this president. He's happy with the US taking a diminished leadership role in world affairs. Let's let the real world leaders make the decision making.

Loss of their pipelines would increase need for Canadian Resources to get to GOM refiners for exportation to Europe.

Not any more acts of war than invading a sovereign nation with your military.....

I think Russia's logic here is that since Crimea joined the Russian Federation that all government owned property in Crimea is now theirs.

It would be analogous to Texas seceding and then taking control over US military assets in Texas. I guess. I'm sure it is a less than ideal situation.

I saw a video clip of Ukrainian military personnel packing up and leaving the bases. I'm guessing some changed allegiances. Either way, I could only imagine that was scary as shite.

Although it's a chronologically backwards, to compare it to Hitler I think Crimea was Putin's Austria and this would be his going into the Rhineland.

I don't see where the Ukrainians put up any kind of fight. Even the French scuttled their fleet to keep it from the Germans. I was for supporting the Ukrainians, but if they aren't willing to fight for themselves, I can't get too enthused about giving them much support.
