re: National Debt by President and by Year since 1976
So the last Repub President increased the debt by 4x over the previous Dem administration.
And Reagan (that great Conservative) increased the debt by 8x the previous Dem adminstration.

So tell me again why the Repub President is going to decrease the debt?

Some of Obama's increase is due to Bush's wars. Its like if your parents died and left you a nursing home that was losing money, you couldn't shut it down until you found a buyer, and it took 3 years to find the buyer.

I would agree. Except Obama promised to turn it all around and reduce the deficit in his campaign, so clearly:

1) he's a liar
2) he's a failure
3) 1 & 2

No it didn't.

Obama was and is the CiC. He could have brought them home immediately.

Instead he STAYED ON THE BUSH TIMETABLE.

fricking fail.

If we are going to use that argument, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars could have been prevented if Clinton had taken out Osama when he had the chance in the 90's...

Less than 10% if we're charitable. The ENTIRE 10 years of the GWOT cost less than any single year of Obama deficit. PDF Link >

Try again.

I was thinking that too. That's a long time span to go dollars-to-dollars.

You'd also have to pay the 50% inheritance tax that Obama and the libs support.

National Debt as a percentage of GDP is the tell-tale.
And of course, historical anomolies, like WW2 on the bad side, and the tech boom on the good side ...
Absolute numbers are an indicator, at best maybe half of the story.
For the economy to be contracting, and debt to be spiraling is truly the worst combination.

Obviously he could have gotten us out of Iraq a little sooner, and we could have been out of Afghanistan a while ago. He was handed high unemployment with automatic increased benefits for those individuals affected by it. He was handed significantly reduced government revenue at the same time, along with rapidly increasing healthcare costs and legions of old people retiring. He was given a shite sandwich.

This is sooo true. Also, how about a million lives in Rawanda?? He built the reactor in North Korea. His Foreign policies were to appease, and not being involved saved some debt, but shifted the mess down the road. Can't look at him in a vacuum, which is what some want to do. Heck, his deregulation of lending policies caused this latest recession, not Bush/Obama.
